Is 550 Magnum the cartridge?

Yes 550 mag is the caliber basically alittle more power than the 577 NE in a bolt gun. This gun was built to handle this brute of a cartridge. CH4D list dies and there is some brass out there for it.
There were two versions I take this the one on a 505 case. Well I guess the were i fore got the one on a 50 bmg. Case. That’s 3.

Interesting! I thought there was just one and that it was based on the 460 Weatherby?

I don’t know I always thought there was just one version. Let me measure the brass I have and I’ll get back with you. The brass I have was made by Jameson.
The 505 version came out many years ago in oz. It was built on 14/17 action.

Very cool rifle. I've been intrigued by them in the past (see the thread I started last year that is linked above).

How is the recoil? Most guns in this caliber that I've seen carry an extra pound or two. 10.4 lbs sounds light.

the picture of the brass. The owner of Woodleigh designed a 550 Gibbs years ago. Also made bullets for it. Modified 505 Gibbs brass. Called it 550 Gibbs.

I have no idea the shipping cost from here to Costa Rica. I can do my research on shipping and get back with you later today.

I didn't see your request re: ship co’s. My last shipment was 2023. Quotes from SBS Logistics ($1,198), Badger Cargo ($1,184 - used them) & AHG Trophy Shippers ($1,746). AHG owner's an asshole so wouldn't have used him anyway. Eastern Cape - Houston, TX, so your mileage may vary. NEVER use Karl Human Taxidermy aka Wild Africa Taxidermy on Eastern Cape. Trophies arrived shattered with no padding/packing material.
