Continued load development

So, ive been trying to work up a load with h4895 and the 500 gr ceb solids in my 470ne. Tonight I got up to 76gr with foam wad, and my velocity was 1950fps. ( I started at 68 grs and that gave me 1740fps)

They are getting closer to center, but still 4 inches apart. My rifle regulates with federal factory 500gr swift ammo. Its velocity is running 2079.

My question is, can I keep going up in powder charge until I get to 2079 and see what it does? I've read, "on the internet," that I shouldn't go over 76 gr with the h4895. No reasons given but im a touch leery since there isn't much for load data out there with H4895. JJ told me 79 gr imr 3031 would be about the Federal velocity equivalent...for what thats worth.

No experience with 4895 but I can confirm what JJ says about 3031; my .470 regulation load is 78gr 3031, foam wad, win mag primer and 500gr bullet.

Move to IMR3031 and you will not be sorry you will easily hit your desired FPS at much less recoil

It looked like a lot of people were having luck with the rl 15.5 so I ordered some to try. I was only trying the 4895 because I had lots of it. I liked the temp stability of it better than the imr powder.

I just ran the data through quickload program.

With H4895 81gr get you 2066fps at 36875psi (39160psi is the listed max pressure for the 470.)

Remember this is a computer calculation your results may vary with your rifle and the lot of powder you are using etc So always use safe reloading processes and work your way up the ladder slowly and safely.

RL15.5 is what I use for high temperature hunts
