Sako Brown Bear in .500 Jeffery, and two Woodleigh 600 grain PPSNs.

You nailed him..(y)

I am building a .500 Jeff. on a Brno 602..cant wait to try it out on elephant..

What does the Sako weigh...? Recoil must be..well..entertaining..??

Only 9.5 pounds! Yep, it was entertaining to start with, but I got used-to it. It points nicely. However, it is away at present getting a couple of improvements, a better recoil pad being one of them.

My favorite caliber in a big bore bolt action! Thanks for sharing.

Wow, what a cool series of pics! Congrats also!

Very cool, congrats on the buff!

My shoulder hurts from just viewing your photos!

Good shooting sir!

Looks like a great time. Thanks for sharing.

Ben, great series of stills. If you have time could you zoom in on the buff and mark bullet placement of both shots and if you know where each bullet ended up. Just out of interest.

Perfect. Out of interest were the projectiles recovered or did they both pass through?

Great photos! One of my dream hunts, but will have to wait until the kids and their horses leave home.

You’ll be waiting a while I guess.[emoji15]

Great pictures - thanks for posting!

I suspect the challenge with the .500 Jeffery is not shooting a buffalo with it - I don't recall ever feeling recoil when I had an animal in my sights, regardless of the caliber. The challenge would be practicing with the rifle - at 9.5 lbs, I think it's likely a bit light for the caliber, and will give you a proper punishing.

How many shots do you think you could take from a bench with the rifle (without a lead sled) or from sticks in a day of practice? Not many (and maybe even not enough!) I'd guess!

Thing is, I don’t practice off a bench. I just stroll around in the bush, hunting. My very first shot with this rifle and cartridge was putting a 600 grain bullet into the brain of an angry bull buffalo that appeared out of nowhere, at eight metres. I didn’t intend for that to happen, but it did.

BenKK, a Mercury Recoil Reducer or a little lead in the stock will go a long way towards reducing the recoil of that big rascal. My 416 Rigby weighs in a 11.5 lbs. and the recoil isn't all that bad. I can only imagine what the recoil of a 500 Jeffery in a 9.5 Lb. rifle is like. OUCH comes to mind. BTW nice shooting.

Jake, Sorry to bug you again. I was wondering if you could share a. couple actual pics of this crossbow with me?

Xpedition Archery USED Scrapeline390X Sniper Gray Crossbow XACW1001 - Light Wear - Needs Bolt/Arrow Guide Spring UA5689

If it is in a decent shape, would you be willing to sell it for $100 shipped? IS it missing the retention spring that goes over the bolt?
Thank you Ferenc

Good morning John, I just read your setup procedure for the northstar duplicator ator. I found it very hand and I did learn some things. I have the same machine and I am having a problem i can not figure out and was hoping you could shed some light on the subject.
