I'm an idiot. My Sodia combo rifle is a 7x57R and I have not only bought a bunch of 7x57 ammo for it but have but a dozen rounds down the pipe. It actually shot great and doesn't appear to be off face at all.

I will soon have a bunch of ammo for sale on here. All but two will be unopened boxes. If anyone has any spare 7x57R that they are looking to "unload" please let me know.

I'll see if I can find some over here in Germany. I am moving back to the USA in a few months.

We can trade.

Norma and custom loads i paid up for. I'm going to go scold myself the rest of the day.

I have three boxes of S&B 7x57R that I'll literally give you. They're just gathering dust. Send me an IM.

I have 50 rounds of original RWS that I can get to you next week or so as I will be in USA and can mail from northern Minnesota. How about $100 delivered to you

You’re not an idiot that’s a super common mix up with combo guns 7x57 vs 7x57R looks identical on paper.

Good news the 7x57 Mauser case is basically the same diameter and only 0.003" longer than the
rimmed R version. Firing it in a 7x57R chamber usually just sets the shoulder back a hair explains why it shot great with no headspace drama or off face marks.

You got lucky most guys catch it before firing. Brass is now fireformed to your chamber perfect for reloading proper 7x57R loads if you want.

For 7x57R ammo it's rare as hell in the US. Check Ammo Seek or Gun Broker for Prvi Partizan or Sellier & Bellot when in stock $50-60box. Or hit up European sites like Krale or Frankonia import a case if you shoot a lot.

I can get the Sellier and Bellot and the Prvi Partizan but my experience with them in other rifles is they were marginal at best for accuracy. Have you had better luck with those brands?

I also have a 7x57R bore site. Again I'll give it to you. Otherwise my kids will just throw it away when I'm dead lol. Same with the ammo. S&B ammo may not be the greatest but it's free and if nothing else it's free brass.

I use S&B ammo in my 303s ( rimmed cases ) . I think their ammo is good .

How did your rifle extract the rimless brass?
Could it be that it is set up to use either style?

I don't think you can set one up to shoot either can you? They actually aren't the same size. One lands on the shoulder and the other the rim (the latter in my case).

Fired fine, extractor didn't pick it out of the barrel...which now makes SO much sense.

Just curious, where are you located? I have a source...

S&B factory ammo is often cheaper than buying new brass. Buy it, shoot it, reload it. I've seen it for 20-ish dollars a box of 20.
This. When the Covid panic buying kicked in a few years and all the shelves emptied, I could still find that stuff in 7x57 for under $19 a box for a fair amount of time.

Hi PaulB. Would you be interested in another WJ Jeffery .450/.400 NE 3". It's an extractor model and in superb condition, cased as well. Made in 1908. The rifle is here in Texas.
