Does anyone have experience with the CEB 350gr or Hammer 450gr out of the Jeffery?

That is too good a title not to get a response, so here goes.
I will get some 450-gr Hammer bullets to replace my old 450-gr GSC HV,
should be great in the 1:20" twist CIP .500 Jeffery that I have been working on for the last 21 years.
Meantime I had .510-caliber rifles with 1:9", 1:10", 1:12", 1:15", and 1:24" with which to play.
For true varmint loads maybe sabots for .308/.50-cal ? I am on that too.
However, the 1:20" twist is probably ideal for the CEB 350-gr and Hammer 450-gr combo for varmints to big game.

Another varmint and big game combo above:
.395 Tatanka (.395/.416 Rigby 20-degree Shoulder)
and
.500 Mbogo 3-Inch (.510/.470 Mbogo+)

The nose of the Shock Hammer will not pinch shut. It will blow off and leave an FN penetrator that
would exit a cape buffalo if started off at 2500 fps or more.

450 grain @2,835fps? That will stop a varmint!

I am wondering what the break away vs expansion performance would be with both Hammers and CEB.

I use a Trail Boss load (can’t recall the exact charge) with Bertram 535gr pills.

Seems to work on foxes.

(out of curiosity & to work with something else) would anyone have a suggestion for Black Bear?
Thank you.

Shot a jackal in 2018 with a 570gr soft at 2300fps. It was very effective.

Seems like a waste of copper. I don't have that kind of money to blow. Well, I do but I won't.

I am planning to try working up a load with lightweight bullets for my 404J to give me more range on possible deer and elk. I put a few 307 Hammers onto paper last summer but they didn't group well. The barrel was new and load data was sparce and questionable (only data with one available powder for 300 gr cup and core). Cutting Edge also makes a variety of light bullets and they will supply lots of load data on request. Check them out.

Why not just drop a mortar on them? :ROFLMAO:

Probably cheaper to bait them in and use tannerite- Enjoy the boom, save the trouble of having anything to haul out!:E Rofl:

I've tried to drop a mortar on a coyote. If you don't hit within the kill radius with the first round they hit that top gear instantly and vacate the area at mach jesus.

Just use a 570gr or 600gr solid but a frozen herring may be a better option....
The only varmint I shoot with mine are problem buff, elephant, lion and hippo....

Here's my 535 grain Bertram Trail Boss loads at work on plastic milk bottle varmints (y)

Anything below an elephant or a cape buffalo is a varmint when it comes to the 500 Jeffery :) I've killed a cow elk and a 450 lb feral pig with mine both qualify as varmints.
You mean like this.. lol.

Hallo Marius- do you have possibilities for stags in September during the roar? Where are your hunting areas in Romania?

I'm about ready to pull the trigger on another rifle but would love to see your rifle first, any way you could forward a pic or two?
Thanks,

Love your rifle! I'm needing a heavier rifle for Africa. Sold my .375 Dakota Safari several trips ago. Would you have any interest in a trade of some sort involving the custom 338/06 I have listed here on the site ( I have some room on my asking price. I also have a large quantity of the reloading components and new Redding dies as well as a box of A-Square Dead Tough ammo.
