The ELD-X is a good bullet. I think it’s an improved SST. I have used both and had numerous one shot kills on PG and deer. I would suggest looking at a slightly heavier bullet, around 200 gr.
Thank you kindly for your reply and informative opinion in regards to the ELD-X bullets ..The reason I do not want to go to 200gn ELD-X bullets is that I can not shoot the 200gn bullets in my K31 7.5X55SWISS rifle , it is too heavy for the SWISS.

Forget the A-frames...you can't find them when you need them. They could be a death laser beam but if you can't reload them or find them most of the time, it's worthless. 180 TSX or TTSX in the 300 win mag is a fantastic bullet available anywhere, anytime. I have never looked online for them without finding numerous sources for them in both factory loads and in reloading components. Supply chain is a real thing guys.

The challenge to source BARNES TTSX here in South Africa has one big challenge...our currency is extremely weak, so any product from the USA /Europe is extremely expensive..

So we can still buy the Hornady bullets for a fair price here in South Africa ....and we have access to bullets manufacture here in South Africa for African hunting purposes..AXE, Peregrine , Impala and a few more companies are available to purchase affordable bullets from ..

Peregrines have a good reputation. They weren’t listed in the survey but the operators in Africa know them well.

I wish we could bring you guys more stuff when we come over but they have been cracking down on that at SAPS. I was threatened with jail time on my last trip and they confiscated all the premium bullets (not ammo) I brought for PH use.

Thank you for being willing to bring items to SA for hunters. Yes, especially if it is a flight stop over at Doha airport..they confiscate anything that has to do with brass cases and rifle scopes as well..

Rhino bullets are made in South Africa and extremely good. Have you considered those ?

I am currently using the Hornady ELD-X 178gn bullets to determine a load for my SAKO .300WM full stock , 22"inch barrel. Any opinions in regards to these bullets ?
Will be hunting Kudu, Blue Wildebeest , Black Wildebeest, Zebra not smaller body game animals. View attachment 683973
Refuse to use any ELDX bullets in Alaska the jacket is too thin and expansion to great !

Not Doha…your SAPS in SA.

I just got back from Namibia. I used a 300 H&H with 200 grain Nosler Partitions. Five one-shot kills on Leopard, Oryx, Hartebeest, Springbok, and Zebra.
Whoa...we've got a leopard story? Let's go!

I think most already know I’m going to say Terminal Ascent. It’s the newest version of Trophy Bonded Bear Claws, and Trophy Bonded Tipped.

TTSX of TSX’s aren’t a bad option either. A-Frames are an old standby, I also like the Seift Scirocco II’s and Accubonds as options.

On my first visit, I used a Weatherby Mk.5 in 8X68S caliber with the RWS 187gr H. Mantel copper hollow-point bullet. I only visited SA twice.
These performed well on every species, but after the first shot, I got the "ring of incompetence" on my forehead because it was "too much gun" for my weak frame. I forgot I had this bruiser on in the heat of the moment.

I traveled aboard a Sako TRGS during my second trip. The 180gr Nosler Partitions and 300 Win.Mag. caliber killed everything up to Kudu and Red Hartebeeste in a spectacular fashion, but each time I fired the trigger, I was not half-dead.

I hunted my Kudu with my 300 win mag, using 180 gr. Hornady ELD-X. This was the damage done with one shot at 60 yards. Regardless of bullet selection, 180 gr. is all you need for plains game. I also used Nosler Partition with success as well as Norma Bondstrike and Swift A-frames. I haven't used Barnes TTSX yet, but my partner did and...Holy Sh*T! Just pick your poison! all are good! Shot placement is crucial in all cases though.

I have a Chapuis 450-400 double that looks brand new and shoots well, never been hunted from what I can tell. I am willing to part with it as I have a 375 H&H Sodia on it's way from Dorleac & Dorleac. I am looking for $9,250 for it and if you are interested, I am happy to send you some pictures. Regards,
Steve
