Any suggestions on a bullet for a custom Parkwest Arms .275 Rigby? Would like a bullet/grain that could be used for most Plainsgame and Mule Deer/Elk (reasonable distance shots)…… Rifle will be built so can select barrel twist rate, etc…..

I have a dakota model 10 and wanted one load to rule them all. The Northfork 165gr should be that one bullet to do everything from whitetails to kudus. I'm still working up the load slowly, but have been playing with RL19 and 4350 powders for the answer.

I've loaded 160 gr Nosler Partitions and Swift A Frames for my 7x57. Also some 175 gr, but think the 160s are the sweet spot. Have taken sable x3, lechwe and puku, plus several whitetail.

My Rigby shoots sub-MOA groups exactly 1 inch apart vertically with the Oryx 158 and 170 gr bullets. Though I used the 170 in Zambia on everything from blue duiker to sable and Defassa waterbuck, the 158 has become my do it all.

I shoot 140gr Accubonds out of my 275 Rigby but she’s a prewar gun

In my 7x57 the 162 Hornady AMAX/ELDM with 45grs H4350 has been wholly satisfactory the last so many years on Deer/Elk. I've no Africa experiences (yet) but I'll confidently have this rifle/load in hand when I do. At 2650 fps it doesn't demand any special jacket/bullet construction even when shots are up close. And, with any distance the tipped boat tail makes for a decently flat trajectory, ignores wind, expands quickly, and has plenty of mass to penetrate great. I think my barrel twist is 1:8 or 9 iirc. It's not magic but it is an extremely well balanced and versatile combination in an unexpected nexus between modern bullet tech and a venerable old cartridge.

Sellier & Bellot SPCE 173Gr soft point.

P.S: Please specify a long throat and a 1:8.7” twist rate on your rifle. The .275s built by John Rigby & Co. currently use a short throat optimized for the 140Gr bullet.

I wouid use 160 grain accubonds as my do everything bullet.

I have used them used them on antelope, deer, mountain goat and elk at ranges from inside 50 yard to nearly 500 yards with perfect results.

@PARKWESTARMS I'm so glad you're here! The majority of the former are BIG fans of your work and also of your former work at Dakota. Is this Ward or Jason by chance? We are all grateful for preserving the custom American gunmaking tradition, delivering a custom rifle for a price that any hunter can afford if they value quality.

This is Tim. I am one of the owners of Parkwest. Thank you for the kind words.

I too believe in sweet bullet weight spot and acquired some 150 and 175 gr AB LR, 162gr Amax and ELDX, and some 160 gr NP as well as Barness 145 gr LRX. I have had good success on whitetail with Hornady's 139 gr SSTs but they are a bit unpredictable and I'm hoping to hit the sweet spot around 160 gr with controlled expansion but softer tip bullets like NP or AB LR (due to lower velocity of 7x57 loads) or lighter LRX type of bullets.

Just wanted to say thanks for the excellent customer service. Ordered some 9.3x62 brass and the delivery was a little short. An email through your website Contact Us link was replied to the next day with the tracking info for the correction. Good pricing coupled with great customer service will see returning customers every time. Thanks again!

X5i scope is perfect - thanks for an easy transaction! Buy with confidence.
Made it to Augusta Georgia yesterday for a meeting, hunt bookings are looking good for 2026 and 2027, had a great time on our Alabama safari shot a rutting deer at 200 yards with 7mm PRC near Huntsville and then headed on to Butler Alabama and semi guided my first deer ever shot a very nice broken off 8 point with hunter there and spend a few days on 1100 acres hunting preserve awesome place!

I am righthanded, so not interested in the rifle, but I have a 375 RUM and 350 gr bullet loading data is very hard to come by. If you could reply with information regarding your loads I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you, Ray Boone, Leavenworth, WA
