Afflicting the comfortable, or comforting the afflicted? Dealers choice?Well now I'm tempted to send random inquiries to the guy just to set him off. In full disclosure, I can be a natural born Internet troll when I need to be, and this kind of situation is like catnip to me.![]()
OUR GI LISTINGS STATE CLEARLY "PLEASE DO NOT ASK FOR ADDITIONAL PICTURES" ... we have been in business for 30 years, we used to respond to these inquiries and in that time we have NEVER sold a gun to a buyer who requested "additional pictures". So we just don't have the time. We have learned that if a buyer can't make a decision based on a clear description, 5 photos, and a 3 day inspection, he is highly unlikely to step up.Seems to be a trend for this guy,
Emailed him about a GI listing for some extra pictures of a small ring Mauser action for a project rifle since the ones on the listing were blurry and didn’t show any close ups of the raceways or bolt face and he caught an attitude and said he doesn’t provide any additional pictures I can see it when I buy it lol
Won’t be buying anything from this dweeb.
And he has had that rifle for YEARS.Ya, its unfortunate he's such an unpleasant human. He has a nice AHR custom in 270 Howell that I won't buy simply on principle after he was a dick to me via email inquiry.
I sell stuff for a living and I'm sure you'll agree that that's just part of the deal. And you never really know - there's always a "time waster" who ends up being a great customer and someone who seems like they're going to be a great customer who is a timer waster. You never know, no matter what Mr. Gould of Whitworth Arms may say. This thread is like a train wreck, you don’t want to look, you can’t help it.
Mind you, I used to get fed up with time wasters and lowballers or those who wanted a total price breakdown, so I understand the frustration
Gumpy
Not the best response and I see your concern. I've actually purchased a few things from the company in the past. (Nothing in the last couple of years). Never had any problems. Wonder if things have changed.Today I enquired about a Kimber Caprivi in 458 Lott with a seller on Gunsinternational.com. They go by the name of doublegunhq with the company name Whitworth Arms LLC.
They have had this rifle listed for quite a long time in "As New Condition". And they are asking retail price for it.
So I simply asked them the question " is this rifle still in "as new condition" with no flaws? Perfectly like new? And this is the response I was given.
I can't imagine a busines owner responding to a question in this manner....
So if you see anything they are offering for sale, I'd be very leery to do business with them.

This goes double for the eccentric crowd on this forum!I sell stuff for a living and I'm sure you'll agree that that's just part of the deal. I learned that lesson early in my career when a guy walked in looking like he'd been dragged there behind his shitty pick up. I had had a long day and asked another guy to cover for me. Twenty minutes later the guy went out to his shitty pick up and brought in a plastic grocery back with $45,000 in it and drove off with a new piece of equipment. We were on 10% commission. That hurt.
Treating everybody with courtesy and respect will never come back to bite you. Treat people differently based on "what you know" from how they look or what they ask and you will always leave money on the table. It would be interesting to tally the unfulfilled transactions of Mr. Gould just on this thread. I'm in for $4,950 for the 404 Jeffery I didn't buy (still for sale).
Don't recall this interaction but the Wm Evans sold to a real customer ...Yeah I called him about a William Evans rifle. Same type of response. Terrible attitude
again, our GI ads state clearly "please do not ask for more pics" ... so again, don't be surprised when I decline to provide "more pics".Years ago I call the subject seller and asked if he had photos of a gun that were not so dark. A lot can be hidden in dark photos… The seller bruskly informed me there was nothing wrong with his photos. Since that call I’ve spent several hundred thousand dollars buying fine shotguns and rifles. I have however never again looked at his website or items for sale on Guns International. Never.
If you meet an axxhole in the morning, you met an axxhole. If you meet axxholes all day long then maybe you are the axxhole…
Yes. I bought it despite you being a jackass. Just had some questions which you refused to answer.Don't recall this interaction but the Wm Evans sold to
