Full stock hunting rifles?

Im in the market for a general purpose hunting rifle. Lately i was look at the Sako 90 Bavarian and the Steyr SM 12. While looking at those i stumbled across the full stock version of the Steyr SM 12 and ive got to say im a huge fan of the looks!

Does anyone else make a full stock rifle like this? I know Sako and CZ used to, but im pretty sure neither does any more.

I'm a big fan of the stutzen style full stock as well. I've two CZs and a Mannlicher 1903 full stock.

Ruger makes (or made) a full stock M77 and also Sauer make a 404 with a full stock.

I don't see a full stock option on the Sauer website, am I missing something?

Hmm you're right; now I look at their website, the 404 isn't listed at all. I think maybe the 505 has replaced it?

Maybe totally outside what you are considering, but this is something I keep meaning to list. It’s in 7mm/08, Dakota 76 from some limited run back in the day. Skelton grip-cap with wood checkered within. I can get much better photos, these were just old ones that were handy.

Or you can look for the original Mannlicher Schoenauer rifles. I have found no other brand handles and points as naturally as those.

Not a caliber I was looking for, but I might be interested. Does it have a set trigger?

Wow, that is a nice rifle.! Perfect with steel buttplate, good scope, and a quarter rib to boot.!
The floorplate and release is a bit different, wondering if this is how they do their short action?
I have a new, DSB short action and integral quarter rib barrel for my soon to be built, 7mm-08.
Windy and smoky here all week, so been looking at handloads for 7x57, 21" full stock and found that staball6.5 or RL15.5 can give higher velocities.

Look for a good condition Ruger No 1 International. 30/06 or .270
No way you won’t love it
Super fine rifle . I gave mine (.270 win. ) one of my sons in law. It remains in my gun room so if larceny is on my mind some day , it is gone.
It sets there for me to shoot any time.

I agree, I have had 5 Ruger no 1 Internationals, 30-06, 2 different 270s, 243 and 9.3x62. I only have the 30-06 left and it’s my go to whitetail gun now.

Just to be clear, I will require a single set trigger or double set triggers on the rifle. That is why I was looking at the Sako 90 Bavarian and Steyr SM 12 specifically.

I'm not against an original Mannlicher if I can find one in good condition at a price I can afford.

Steyr SM12 full stock Stutzen is still the go to for that classic Mannlicher look.

Not many current options it's a dying style. Ruger used to do the M77 RSI International, but they're long gone. CZ 550 FS is discontinued too.

A few custom or European makers like Mauser or smaller Austrian German shops pop up occasionally, but nothing mass produced matches the Steyr's availability and quality in that full stock config. If you love the aesthetics, pull the trigger on the SM12 it's a beauty.
