Most of the bad wrap on full stocked rifles not being accurate is put out by people who have never owned one or even fired one. I have had 5 and all were hunting rifle accurate. They for sure are not target rifles but all I owned would shoot 1-2” MOA with ammo they liked.

Anywhere between .264"/6.5mm and .323"/8mm, I'm not being really picky. Game size will be ranging from coyotes to black bear (our black bears aren't particularly big). We have three species of deer that would be my most likely targets. I already have bigger guns that would easily fill the role of cartridges bigger than that.

In that case I would recommend the 7x57 Mauser. With 139 grain bullets it’s all you need for medium sized game. With 175 grain everything else including bears.

There's a CZ 550 in 308 Win on GunBroker with a set trigger if that's of any interest.

There's plenty of CZ 550's and Ruger M77's in 6.5x55. There's push feed Winchester 70's in 30-06. Sako AV's in 30-06 show up on a regular basis too. The double or forward set trigger is the requirement that is sometimes hard to find.

I used to have a Winchester M70 in 7x57, wonderful cartridge! Sadly, the rifle itself had problems and had to go.

Found this with some CZ full stock rifles in my collection, now for sale. I am the original owner, not sure when I bought this but maybe the 80's? In fact, the rifle has been out of the box twice, when purchased and now for pics, so really is NIB The wood has nice color but more so, the grain is tight.
Sorry for the photos, cloudy here today, thought the buttstock and checkering of interest.

My cousin Joe has a 452 CZ mannlicher stocked in 22lr. It has a metal end cap, and he coats every bullet with Alox. He showed me a 3/8" group he shot with it--at 100 yds! I have a Shilen barreled 77/22 I restocked as a mannlicher, but it is free floated--it will shoot a bughole at 50 yds with Lapua Gold 22lr.
Männlicher stocked MS in 7x57 will do 1 1/2" at 100 yds with almost anything you feed it commercially, and hit the magical Moa with handholds. It is restocked and free floated, a real rescue mission of a formerly abused MS.

I think the usual metal end cap might be an accuracy liability, but not much of one.

Why a full length stock in the first place? It is rumored the Emperor Franz Joseph used his rifle as a walking stick as he got older, and they extended the wood for both cold weather comfort and a bigger grip. Who has a better explanation?

I like the look of the stock to the end of the barrel.
They are real hunting carbines with an antique look. In my country we call them stuc (short). The M70 Zastava is very affordable and preserved examples can be found. It is most often made in calibers 8x57JS 7x64 .3006 and 9.3x62. I shot a few of them and regardless of the shorter barrel, they were quite accurate

I always like the look of full stock rifles. I even like them on Stutzen break action single shots.

I have a nice 20" 308 built on a late Mexican Mauser that shoots well with 180 grain Norma Oryx bullets. I took it to Africa last year for wildebeest. It's a MOA rifle when I do my part. But it's not a set trigger. I think it has a timney trigger in it.
