My grandfather was a vintner from Hungary. He immigrated to the US and bought a small farm outside St. Johns Michigan back in the 30's. He continued to make wine and started a small orchard. After he passed my father bought the property from my grandmother. My dad fenced the orchard in and made it a grazing area for beef cattle and a couple of quarter horses. During the fall the cattle and horses would compete for the apples and pears when they rotted and fell from the trees. The fermented fruit would occassionally get the horses and cattle pretty drunk. It was not uncommon to have the animals run to the fallen fruit when it hit the ground. I remember a few times the horses would get there first and kick the hell out of the cattle to get the fruit. Its not hard to remember this and think that maybe a long long time ago that something like this was the inspiration for alcohol.

I vaguely remember a keg party with similar occurrences...
 
As soon as we found fermented fruit.
 
I have always had a taste for beer every since I was a child and could take it or leave it then, but after my first 2 years of marriage, a little more, after 54 more years ,a Lot more, and I mean a lot. Some how it muffles my wifes mouth and I can't hear a thing she is bitching about , beer is a blessing from the man above, Praise the Lord ! :)

When I was about 5 years old, our family went to Busch Gardens near Tampa, FL.

At the end of the amusement park, I think you exited through a brewery, where they had small sample cups.

Not that bad, as I recall...

Paul, you need to get hearing aids like mine. These are blue toothed to my phone. I can bring up Spotify on my new Google Pixel and listen to Emmy Lou Harris or Willie Nelson in full stereo while others are blabbing away. Wonderful at church where our pastor has recently taken to giving lengthy sermons. Keeps me awake so my snoring doesn't drown her out.

Sounds reasonable to me.
The thing about all alcohol it falls into a food group because it contains carbohydrates
Unfortunately there are NO FOODS that fall into an alcohol group. Even tho some foods contain carbs they don't contain alcohol.
As Norm from cheers said alcohol ensures the survival of the fittest. Yes it kills off brain cells but the ones that are left are the strongest of the brain cells therefore he concluded that those that drink are the smartest because the weak, dumb brain cells have been destroyed leaving only the stronger smart cells. So drinkers are smarter.
I don't know how good his hypothesis is because I've seen some really dumb drinkers but it sounds good.
Also good for religious purposes because he who drinks gets drunk.
He who is drunk can' sin because he sleeps.
Therefore let's all let's all drink and go to heaven.
