My YT feed is loaded with suggestions of Africa, hunting, fishing, history, weather livestock and agriculture markets. This morning the algorithm actually got something right with this top of the page recommendation as it hits on everything I use YT for.

Personally, I thought it was awesome in all respects. I can’t imagine how difficult it would have been to film in Africa in 1929. It wasn’t fully edited and released until 1933.

 
Fascinating… especially taking two very small children on the expedition. Thanks for sharing!
 
What a great film. Although they never explain why they are catching all these animals alive. Pretty sporty with the lions and leopard. And the casual way they mention one of their guides being disemboweled was something.
 
These type movies and books are what made me fall in love with Africa, the Johnson’s and JA hunter to name a few. But now after working here on and off for 30 years I struggle to watch them.

The commentary while definitely fitting for the time I can hardly stomach, every animal is a dangerous brute, every local a cannibal and missionary his dinner. All the overdubbed roaring and growling is a bit much. But it is fun to see old footage of Africa and what its safaris looked like.
