I had a perfect two weekes hunting in Zambia with Steven Rufus from Shamwari Safaris last year. Why perfect? Because I got two leopards, one crocodile and one hippo with my bow in only two weekes
The man Steven knows his job!
I used a 80 pounds Hoyt Defiant with 650 gr arrows and 125 Gr Beast as broadheads for crocodile. Leopards where dead under 20 m
Used another hoyt in 86 pounds and 1340 gr arrows with 400 gr Tuffheads for hippo
The last one on the list, the elephant didn,t passed the ivory limit that I have decided before. But I will do that next year

What is the story with the Leopard shot?

I am not sure that I understand your question. But I will try to do a resume for bowth leopards
First one was broadside 21 m. Arrow hit the shoulder and I got a complete passtrough exiting the other shoulder. Felt of the tree and died under 20m. Second one was at 17m quartering away. Arrow exploded 3 ribs and got out trough the oposite shoulder. Same result dead under 20m
I shoot mechanical broadheads that when they are opened they have a 2.3 inch cut lenght.

Nice! Where were you hunting in Zambia?

I'm super impressed at this being a bowhunt and more than a little jealous. Well done!

Congratulations! Sounds like a perfect two weeks to me!

Sounds amazing
can you elaborate on the hippo hunt
That must have been very exciting

Best regards

Great hunt!

Could you tell me what you saw in the way of elephant and buffalo numbers?

Rufunsa gma...lower zambezi....camp is give or take around 30kms up from luangwa boma...only done it once by boat so an estimation, where it enters the zambezi and start of caborra bassa...... camp is near kavalamanja village ...we park vehicles just bit up from it there when go to kingfisher

We didn’t looked for Buffalo. We only saw a herd of 70-80.
I saw elephants every day. They used to come to camp at night. Or in the parking. But my limit was 60 pounds. And We didn’t saw a bigger one

Yes. 10 minutes by boat to get to Kingfisher.

Yup..beautiful area...very rugged.....slept on the river Bank just down from the hunting camp years ago when in that area when nothing was there apart from kavalamanja village...which was a lot smaller back then...think must have been around 1993....

Very impressive to get 2 daylight leopards and with a bow! Must be an excellent area for spots.

Seems like you have a very high bar for your Elephant, especially for a bowhunt. Have you killed many Elephants in the past?

Zambia has been on my mind…..

I have alteady hunted 3 elephants and have two more booked. One is in Zimbabwe end of April. One is a Forest éléphant for next year. I think I have passed at least 40-45 bulls arround 40 pounds.
Double rifle only until now. Maybe I can squeeze one more with my bow next year

I will be looking for a set of these when my .505 is done... sadly not cashed up right now for these. :(
Need anything in trade?
Cheers,

what kind of velocity does the 140 grains list, curious how they would fit in with my current 130 gr, supply of 270s. maybe a pic of the box data listing vel. and drop. Oh and complements on that ammo belt, nice.
