I was on the road the other day for work and stopped by a semi local gun shop on my lunch break. I seen a used Ruger M77 ii for sale in 30-06. It’s stainless, the shiny stainless not the dull finish, in what I believe is a laminated Boyds stock. It does not have any scope rings.

So here’s my dilemma, I don’t need another 30-06, but for some reason I can’t stop thinking about this rifle! It was priced at $590. If I wasn’t on my lunch break, I probably would have picked it up then. So what do you and enablers think?
Should I take the drive this weekend and pick it up?
Crappy cell phone pic I took of it.

I have one with that laminated stock and finish but with varmint bull barrel in 22-250 that I really like. The laminated stock and the stainless finish was a factory option.

Only one way to quit thinking about it, drive there and buy it!

Considering the prices of new rifles nowadays, I'd buy it! (y) Scope rings should be easy to find.

I'm a fan of the Ruger M77 Mk II in .30-06. I had a nice time with mine way back in 2002 in the Limpopo Province. Handload: 220 gr Woodleigh RN at 2460 fps MV (chronographed 10-shot average). I used a heavy 220 gr RN bullet at moderate velocity just because I wanted to do it the old school way for the nostalgia of it. It worked just fine for bushveld shooting distances.

I've posted these pics before but what the heck. Just my ramblings and musings...

Cheers! Bob F. :)

Can’t go wrong with a 30-06, especially at that price.
Definitely, I love 30-06 and have several. Like I stated, I would have bought it on the spot, but had a meeting right after lunch I couldn’t be late for.
Agreed!…. Those were some of the best rifles Ruger ever made.
I don’t know to much about these rifles, but that’s great to know.
Brickman301 was here 23 minutes ago & said nothing, so will he tell where it is for sale so someone else can grab it at 1/2 what it should be going for?
I’m buying it tomorrow!

You might have edited your post on the PH in the Bubye. I know the PH and is a wonderful person and a fmaily man and runs a succesful business in Zim and just doesn't want the attention that the internet offers, the ugly kind.

Hello,

Am I reading your post correctly to say that the Tsavo rifle will be coming out with a composite stock later this year? I ask because I had been looking very hard for a Tsavo, but if there is going to be a composite stock model I will wait for that.

Thank you for your time,

Andrew

Saw your post. Nice. Denver too. Genesee area (just off 70) if ever up this way. Alternatively, do you have a membership at GGC? Whatever, you'll have a wonderful time in Africa. Enjoy.
