How many dock workers are going to be executed by the little North Korean leader for screwing up the launch of the new destroyer? Not a good day to be a dock worker! That is if there is ever a good day to be a worker in North Korea!

I watched a podcast type YouTube video today in which the guest asserted the folks in Alberta are truly pissed at their government and the succession movement is a real deal. I believe he cited 48% support and 52 against (from my depleted memory). He was optimistic as this is quite early in the discussion without truly a public debate on the issue. The host went on to say, many Albertans welcome being the 51st state.

My reason in bringing this up is that his opinions seemed to be quite contrary to the sentiments given by our Canadian forum members.

I have no information about the host or the guest. I'm curious as to our Canadian members thoughts.
I’d suggest you’re watching the wrong podcasts.

I live in Alberta and I don’t believe there is nearly that much support for separation, The real numbers seem to be in the low to mid 20% range.

Those who are separatist will likely destroy their own cause by looking for an early vote. A project like this is something that takes years of planning, with a well developed and thorough public relations strateg to build support in advance of a vote.

Many Albertans conflate separatism with MAGA, and that will hurt the movement in the near term. Promoters will have to “separate” (pun intended) their movement from MAGA if they hope to get any real traction. While there are some Albertans who support joining the US (and the media certainly seek them out), they are a very small number.

This is not to suggest that a majority of Albertans are happy with Canada at the moment. Most Albertans who are fed up with Canada, though, are just looking for a better deal from Confederation, not becoming an appendage to Montana. (Here’s a quiz: what is the population of the City of Calgary and how does it compare to the population of the State of Montana, which abuts Alberta to the south?)

Go too soon and you will fail, without a doubt.

All of them, and probably their families too.

Even if those numbers support separation, that's a massive problem.

I don't recall seeing anything posted about it on this thread yet, but i admittedly jump a few pages at a time when catching up....

Part of the Big Beautiful Deal is getting Suppressors off the NFA. They would be classified more like buying a long gun, from what I've heard about it so far.

And Canadians do know how to deliver an ass whipping. When I moved to the states I was shocked at how few men had actually dropped the gloves and sorted things out. Growing up playing hockey in Canada, I didn’t know any guys who had not.
Perhaps the Dakotas are similar to Canada? I grew up in the Black Hills and went to middle school and high school in Rapid City. Classmates were a mix of rich kids, poor kids, Air Force brats and American Indians. It was FAFO. A volatile mix. I got in a few fights but not as many as some people. I don’t think my two sons ever got in a single fight here in Colorado. Perhaps not as volatile of a mix, they were both big athletes and the schools here really address bullying. I dealt with several bullies but don’t remember schools addressing bullying ever. I was a basketball guard and teammates with some Indians so didn’t have trouble with them much.

Yes, they are applying this strategy which has proved to be successful in other African countries.

Gradual squeeze instead of brutal expulsion, but in the end, they just want the whites out, and keep the wealth, of course.

Apparently this bill removes the $200 tax but it’s still on the list.

Trump's choice of words about the “genocide” of the white rural population in South Africa

our press is once again making a mockery of this.
Anyone of us who spends a lot of time in the countryside in RSA knows that this is true.
Perhaps the choice of words is exaggerated, as a German you have a different basis for measuring genocide, but Trump is absolutely right in this matter and he is the only one of the heads of state who dares to say this.
Thousands of white farmers and their families have been murdered since independence.
Politicians are not at all interested in clarification, they want to create a climate of fear so that the whites finally disappear, just like in Zimbabwe under Mugabe or in Tanzania under Nyrere.
The South African government has a right of first refusal on farms and of course pays next to nothing for them.
Moreover, you don't bring any money from RSA on a large scale.
So either stay and desperately hold out, or walk away with nothing and you're literally on the brink of an economic OUT.
I would have asked Ramaphosa why the ANC always sings the song “kill the Boers” by Julius Malema at the party congress(still, not only Malema's EFF)
If that's not a call to murder, I don't know.
It really is time to reproach the mainstream press for their indoctrination.
come on man, get your hands off your behind.
Yes there is voilence
Yes maybe there has been some deaths but not on the thousands, not graveyards and lineup of cars coming to pay respect to their late beloved ones like Trump wants to world to believe, That's a Big fat lie. I love Trump most of what he is doing but blowing the situation out of proportion is a no no for me.

"According to the Transvaal Agricultural Union of South Africa (TAU SA), over 1,000 white commercial farmers have been killed in South Africa since the end of apartheid in 1994. The exact figures vary depending on the source, as the South African Police Service has not published specific statistics on farm murders since 2007 ( why???) and has integrated them into the general murder statistics.
In total, there were around 13,000 farm robberies between 1994 and 2020, in which around 2,000 commercial farmers were killed".

Maybe you should just inform yourself before you write.
If you douse the farmers with spiritus/alcohol,set them on fire and they survive, they don't fall into the murder statistics.

A common theme among South Africans I have met over the last twenty years or so, a number whom I consider good friends, is an almost desperate urge to whistle past the graveyard. In spite of their nation gradually sinking from a first world industrial and scientific powerhouse into a third world economic malaise and likely eventual failed state status, there is a belief everything will be ok - it will somehow all work out. Sadly, Ramaphosa's boiled frog analogy seems all too acurate.

After having just returned from Zimbabwe, where we did quite a bit of driving from Bulawayo to our hunting destination, it’s quite easy to see what SA will look like once all the whites are driven off of their farms. What were once beautiful resorts are now boarded up, with no one left to run them. What were once large productive farms now lay vacant. Remnants of stock tanks and fences slowly deteriorating into nothing. No one left to employ the people who once held thousands of farm jobs. It’s a sad sight to see.

As best I can tell, It was amended since Monday to actually remove from NFA, not just the $200 stamp. Now it still needs to be fully passed and get thru Senate or final modifications, but seems promising.

Exactly! I have friends who have joined together in a sort of armed militia to defend their farms. A few years ago I was on a farm in the western cape. A week later the neighbors were dead in a vicious farm attack. These folks live in gated compounds in continual readiness for an attack. Any attempt to downplay this is ludicrous. I am glad that it is finally getting the attention it deserves.

Thanks @Hank2211 That was the input I was looking for. As mentioned previously, I don't know the host or the guest and merely stumbled onto that video. I listened to get a different view of said topic. It was different but as I suspected, not a true reflection of what is happening on the ground in Alberta.
Regards

Yes and there was a push to remove SBR’s as well; some lawmakers thought that gun owners were upset about the $200 tax; but there was a big push by “gun tubers” to get the word out and have people contact their politicians and get things right.
