I have been researching vehicles and specifically 4 wd trucks and the prices are absolutely crazy right now. I saw a f-250 super duty at a dealership for $90,000 the other day.

anyone else truck shopped lately? Looks like I will be waiting a few years.

The price of trucks is nuts. Couple the high sticker prices with the fact they aren’t discounting them like they used to. I was ataFord dealer a couple of months ago and a new Expedition stickerEd for $93k. That’s almost a third of a house!

I have a 96 Ford F250 with the 7.3 diesel.

A year ago while getting fuel a gent came up to me and offered me $10,000 for it without even looking at it except for the exterior that he could see. Then last February while I was down in Arizona hunting I had two more gents ask me if I would sell it.

My problem is what would I do after I sold it? I've built a truck online a couple of times and for what I want it's around $70,000 for the 6.7diesel that adds $10,000 to the price for the diesel option.

I'm starting to see used 2012 and newer trucks hitting the market every now and then for a good price. The problem is that most are 4 door with a short box, either will work for me.

Dodge is offering 1.9 financing on the Ram right now. It’s about the best deal going …..

They sure the hell won't be any cheaper in a few years. I have a 2016 F250 that was around 70 new and I said I will never pay more than that again, now used one would be 70 and a new one 90.

Have a 2016 F250 as well. Has 66K miles on it and was paid for several years ago. Always would say, "I'm driving this one until the wheels fall off," and invariably bought a new truck every three years or so. This one I really do intend to drive until the wheels fall off.

Things have been nuts in the diesel pickup market. About three years ago, my wife started bugging me about finally getting a decent diesel pickup to haul her horses with. At that time, there were plenty of good used diesel pickups in the 20k range. About six months later, I was finally about to start shopping and couldn't find anything that wasn't a rust bucket or some lifted POS under 25k. We searched for a year and a half before we found what we were looking for...a one owner F350 with all the options (or, according to my wife, necessities). We ended up paying in the high 30's. Now, a year later, the lot down the road has the same truck for 53.... Unfortunately, it's not going to get any better. A co-worker's husband just spent 93k on a new Dodge.

Said the same thing about my 2018 Ram. At 163k miles the egr cooler went out. That was a year ago, went shopping. Same trim truck 2 years newer with 20k miles on it they wanted 83k for it. Bought a new egr cooler, I'm not saying never. I'm not in the mind set of spending that kind of money for a depreciating asset. Plan is to drive it til the wheels fall off or they stop making diesel... at this rate I'm not sure which is going to happen first.

In 2019 I bought gasoline powered Ford F-350 single rear tire work truck with a fiberglass utility body, about $55k.

In July 2021 I ordered the exact same truck. It has never been given a vin number. That truck will likely never be built.

The dealer I work with happened to have two white ones exactly the same as the red one I wanted, $76k. I called a dealership manager buddy of mine and asked him what he thought. “Buy them both, demand is high and prices are only going to go up.”

Truck prices are stupid. Although, one of my customers is a parts distribution center for a major automaker and the waste and red tape that exists there explains a lot.

Had to buy two personal vehicles this year. Very tough although I thought the recent one was easier and we had more options/vehicles available to choose from and at least a tiny bit of discount offered compared to January. So perhaps things are starting to loosen up just a little?

I had a 2019 Dodge Ram 3500 with single rear wheels. I added air bag overloads but was loading the rear tires to the max too often. Loved a lot about that truck, especially the High Output Cummins diesel putting out 400 hp and more importantly 1000 ft pounds of torque. And the Aisin 6 speed transmission. It will pull my triple axcel toy hayhauler fully loaded up hill into the wind doing 80 mph without hardly trying;) And it is geared pretty tall. However a Junior business partner needed a truck like that for work and my wife @Just Gina informed me we needed a dually. So the search was on last December but only found two used and no new ones. Doing the math on the miles, the one with 20,000 miles was a better deal than the one with higher miles. Even though it was $90k. It's a really nice loaded up Laramie and will pull and haul anything I care to do with it. Even haul tons of lead and brass from Houston TX to Montana :) I even added a 36' heavy duty flatbed gooseneck trailer for hauling farm machinery.

Well a couple weeks ago it turns out @Just Gina needed a different vehicle. She needs cargo space and we also wanted a comfortable ride for the long trips we often make. I thought a Jeep Grand Cherokee L Overland would do nicely. But when we looked at the new Wagoneer, that was what she was getting;)

We quickly found 3 or 4 of them but after driving one with the full air suspension, that was it.

The low rate financing was mentioned in another response but we found they had a choice of zero interest or a rebate, not both. They had $1000 loyalty or a $3500 conquest rebate if you had a vehicle of a non Chrysler brand. I had actually forgotten that I had bought an old GMC pickup on a whim at an auction. I intend to take it to the feedlot where we take old pickup trucks to die but hadn't gotten it there yet and it had actually been registered in my name rather than a business name. So gave them the $500 hold money and headed home to find the title. One way or another I was going to find a vehicle to get that extra $2500! They also took off another $700 and gave significantly on an extended warranty and full Minnesota body, frame, paint and interior protection package. I don't normally buy that stuff but this thing is very high tech.

The real point is we had several to choose from, almost every dealer within about an hour and a half drive had one, and they actually discounted in addition to having rebates. Another thing I found interesting is that those "one price" non negotiable dealers actually had better dealer discounts than I got at the negotiating dealer..... $2200 vs. $700. They ultimately did not have the air suspension on theirs so I swallowed hard and got my wife what she wanted.... Of course;)

Wow! Guess I’ll be keeping my ‘02 Ford F250 7.3 for a lot longer than I anticipated?
Hard to beat that old 7.3 for simplicity and reliability;) And no DEF!

I actually think there is a good chance they may be cheaper in a couple years. I used to be able to get between 18% to 22% off sticker price. Between rebates and negotiating timed with buying at the right time to have a very motivated seller, such as year end.

Let the economy cool off a bit, let the supply chain work out the rest of the covid kinks, and chip manufacturers catch up.... No reason to believe the big rebates and dealer discounts won't return....

The fed is working hard on cooling off the economy... much smarter than I when it comes to the ways. I feel they are not putting all the pieces together. It is what it is and I'll be buying as much of the good deals in the market I can stand. We are seeing 52 years lows in some areas. These opportunities do not come around often.

If you don’t need big power and crazy options you can get a new 4x4 Ram for less than $50K. Still very comfortable. Seems like a lot, so is milk and hamburger.

Have you gents shopped for truck tires lately? You are going to sh*t your pants when you see the prices of tires.

Not to mention brand new Tacoma's and Frontier's. Even TRD crew cab'sfor well under 50k. I know they aren't fullsize but most people who "need" FS trucks don't actually "need" them. They can also tow 6000+ pounds and float down the highway at 80mph and get you there quick.
