Seems to me that the european firearms companies need to fight so to speak and use some of their billions in profits to oppose the socialist anit-hunting lobby over there. The next thing the socialists will go after, the manufacturing sector and even the firearm tradesman.

Man.. I feel sorry for you. It seems it is (almost) the same ban as in the Netherlands.

But does not mean you cannot hunt them.

I know… but I always dreamed of hunting a tusker and having the ivory back home with me. A replica won’t do, it’s not about having something to show off with, but to have a piece of that majestic creature with me for the rest of my life.

War is busy on EU's Doorstep and then passing a law like this without asking its citizens.
Very sad news indeed how is lets say about 2-3 rhino trophies at most a year that is imported into Belgium going to help and save the rhinos?

We all know what happens when animals don't have any monetarry value to them.

As a Belgian citizen who is also a South African citizen still living in South African where can I voice my concern?

I have not been able to find the full list yet, but I believe my black wildebeest is at risk… the outfitter did not say as much, but he needed only my passport for the export documents and not my father’s. The animals I hunted and my father did not were kudu, nyala, waterbuck and black wildebeest. I think I once read that black wildebeest only needs a special permit.

When I find out where we can all express our concern, I’ll let it be known here.

I’ll als ask my friend who works as the comm officer of CIC, to see what can be done.

It might already be too late… it would not surprise me that no more licenses are given until this proposal becomes law or gets revoked.

The experience, I agree does not change, so this will not keep me from going to hunt in Africa.

Beleive me, they are absolutely like real ones. When your trophy room is full of shoulder mounts, European mounts, rags, south and east African species. The replica tusks will fit perfectly in.

Unfortunately, I'm not surprised. There were once close to a hundred manufacturers of sporting firearms in Belgium. Today, the only sporting firearm which is actually still being made in Belgium... Is the custom Browning B-25 Superposed (and that too, on a very limited basis).

Belgium rivals the United Kingdom in terms of their cult-like brain dead opposition to hunting. Last year, a Belgian hunting outfitter told me that they actually conduct all of their hunts across the border in France, due to the growing number of anti hunting buffoons there. That should tell you everything you need to know about the mindset of the people there.

In my opinion, the only sensible European countries remaining are:
Italy
Germany
Spain
France
Czech Republic

They should all get out of the European Union, before this so-called "Union" strong arms them into passing more of these ignorant laws in their own countries.

Hello @mark-hunter , indeed I know of the replica possibility, but just like the feather in your hat of a bird you took, or a little bit of blood on a twig in your hands from the deer that fell to your shot, a replica is not the same thing.

For those that appreciate art, there is a big difference between having a real Picasso at home, or it’s lifelike replica.

Like I said, it’s not a design object to showcase at my home that I’m looking for, but rather a lifelong connection to the moment that brought the elephant and me together, made real.

Yes I know, and you are right.

Although I am not limited with import regulations, I am limited with my hunting budget (export ele is costly), and for this reason, long ago, I made a compromise with myself, if I ever go for elephant hunt, it will be either non-exportable, or tuskless. In case of non-exportable, then I would settle for tusk replica.

In my PH house, in living room, there were replica tusks.
They were like real!
Only when i touched them I realised they are very light and made of some composite materials.
So, for me, this would be ok.
