Zastava? Any good?

@bruce moulds If he loaded it more stoutly and shot offhand, he might … break a heel! :Nailbiting: :A Stretcher: :A Stirring: :D Beers:
@ZG47
You are pretty cheeky for a kiwi.
Q why do new Zealand horses run so fast?

A they have seen what happens with the sheep over there.
I can assure you I would lk d never break a heel as I don't own any .
I let the 243 owners have that privilege. I hear bipods ate more stable if you place one leg in agumboot.
It's a pity I can't use emojis other wise I would have some fun and save typing.

@Bob Nelson 35Whelen You should have learnt by now that if you leave an opening on this forum, it will be taken. As to NZ horses, they want to avoid those Aussie tonics that did Phar Lap in! :) Have a good week and be careful. I sprained an ankle (really well) on site just before our big lockdown and because I didn’t have time to see my osteo that caused more trouble, with tendons locking up in their sheaths. Some things get better with age but in your late fifties, recovery time isn’t one of them!

Getting older is a bitch that no one warns you a about. You always hear when you get older you will enjoy life more, no warnings the aches and pains get worse the older you get. As well what we used to do all night now takes us all night to b do.

In fairness to the brand/manufacturer, their newer stocks have a metal bedding block and they do not seem to suffer from the same problem. That said, I still prefer the wooden stock as it gives the rifle better balance.
BTW, and for anyone who may be interested, the CZ hogsback stock can be "fixed" by altering the angle of the butt and removing the hump. I have tried a rifle which was so modified and have to say that it handled beautifully. The barrel of that one (a .450 Rigby) had also been shortened to 23". As I have said, a very sweet handling rifle. One does however have to be careful when attempting such mods as removing the hump places the eye a bit lower (and probably also a bit further forward).

.450 Rigby is not caliber made in Zastava. (they make only 375 HH and 458 win mag)
So, this rifle is probably rebarreled, tuned and upgraded.

I have a left hand Zastava. I bought the action new. Barreled it in 35 Whelen and put it in a Boyd’s laminate stock. The action was a little rough at first. It has slicked up over time. The workmanship is good, the critical measurements are right on the money. I believe at one time they were a bargain, maybe not so much today.

You have great rifle in a great caliber. All you have to do is c.f. load it up with some healthy loads of CFE223 and go have fun.

Love your rifle! I'm needing a heavier rifle for Africa. Sold my .375 Dakota Safari several trips ago. Would you have any interest in a trade of some sort involving the custom 338/06 I have listed here on the site ( I have some room on my asking price. I also have a large quantity of the reloading components and new Redding dies as well as a box of A-Square Dead Tough ammo.
