500 Jeffery Recoil?

Greetings AH. This may be subjective, splitting hairs, or just ridiculous, but any feedback appreciated. All being equal in the Firearm ... Out of the Available Factory Ammo, is there a distinct difference in recoil between Kynoch's 535's 2400 fps "I believe" .. Norma's 540 Grain 2400 fps .. Norma's 575's 2198 fps? Thank You!!!

I also have Reload's grouped at 50 yards: 600 Grain 2100 fps.?

I shoot 570 gr Rhinos solids and softs @ 2300. Superior ammo 535gr Woodleighs @ 2400 fps, I don't feel the difference...when you get to this recoil class I would imagine you have recoil no matter what you load unless specifically down loading.....and yes some can handle them and some cannot.

2100 fps is a bit slow for the 600gr bullet.

My preferred load is 570 grain Woodleigh at 2200. I find it slightly more tolerable than 535gr at 2400. I load H4350 at 116 grains with softs and solids.

I find that the recoil is pretty much the same when I am using the same powder in the 570 and 535gr bullets (H4895 or AA2495) But if I load IMR 4350 if find that the perceived recoil is more. IE 120-123gr IMR 4350 vs 102-106gr of 2495/4895. (these loads are safe in my rifle, use proper loading techniques to work up safe loads for your rifle)

Yup both me and @PeteG noticed a big difference between the kynoch 535 grain bullets and the Norma 570 grain ones when we were shooting my 500. Also the kynoch were very sticky trying to eject them...they fed fine but trying to open the bolt afterwards was a bit of a struggle...no problems at all with the Norma...there was as I said considerable difference in felt recoil between the two ...the kynoch was evil compared to the Norma...which was a pleasure in comparison....I like kynoch but I think in this case the load is too much....I was worried it was actually a problem with the rifle till I got hold of the Norma and shot it with no issues

Presumably fairly new...as bought from the gun shop last year...when it was in uk on it's way here I shot it there with kynoch as what Paul had in stock and had same issue with extraction..

I use them. Have been very happy. The gentleman that owns/runs the place is helpful and available for phone calls. Excellent customer service. I reached out to them after reading a couple posts, I seem to recall, from our esteemed member @redleg. Maybe others will chime in. I do not handload, so this was a win for me.

I shoot handloads, 570g TSX's out of my CZ 550 in 500 Jeffery at 2300 fps. I'm not a monometal bullet fanatic but these shoot well, penetrate like crazy and expand. They also feed beautifully. I'm a fan of the A-Frames and Woodleighs as well. The recoil is sporty but easily manageable offhand. Off the bench, without a lead sled, unless you are incredibly recoil tolerant the 500 Jeffery will punish you. I use a lead sled with 35 lbs on it to do load development. The sled jumps off the bench with every shot lol. Then I will check the sight in off the bench without the sled, then again offhand and sitting. I love shooting and hunting with the rifle. Almost all of my practice and hunting I do offhand. By the way, my CZ 550 weighs 12 lbs with scope, and sling unloaded. I wouldn't want it any lighter. To answer your question I believe the lighter bullets will kick less. I would only shoot ammunition with premium bullets (Woodleighs, A-Frames, Barnes TSX, etc.) unless you're hunting deer or elk with it then it really doesn't matter.

Though there's everything included in the sale to reload, this would have to be done by someone extremely well versed, as there's not enough time here to invest! I have 40 reloads of 600 grn Woodleighs @ 2100 fps allegedly? ... I was able to obtain Norma's 570's & a 5 count, Kynoch 535's.

I do appreciate everyone's insight as miniscule it may sound, respectfully. Thank you.
Addl: I ordered Sako's Brown Bear a couple months ago from a somewhat local dealer. He was under the impression it would not take 8 months, however, contacted Sako as these have to be built upon request. In addition to timely imports, 9lbs! ... so? if it ever arrives, it would be interesting to see the differences. Both, firearms and available loads!

Exceptionally glad to hear good results with "Hendershots", as they may be pivotal to supply!!! Between available time & international travel @ this time, they may never see a hunt for a long time. However, this gives plenty of time to study respectively.

Yes Sir, If the Sako makes it here!!! The availability of well, everything has diminished. I have never seen such a thing, when a Cabela's is almost completely wiped out of inventory & one man working in Sales.

P.s These 600 grn reloads are in Jamison Brass, and have some distinct differences over Norma??? ... Is anyone familiar with "Jamison Brass"? Thank You!!!

I use Jamison brass it's built to the 500 Jeffery standard. I easily get 10 full power reloads with it. A 9 lb 500 Jeffery, I know someone who has a 7 lb 500 Jeffery. My hat's off to you both lol. If anyone asks how the recoil is here's some things you can say ...

Glad to hear! ... I finally ran this AHR through the paces, variable loads. It's pretty stout, however, what a fine rifle, my god! Functioned flawlessly and a nice introduction to a "single stage trigger". Just under 10lbs, 42" overall.
