China has imposed a 80% tariff on Australian barley which is used in the beer brewing industry. Reason - because Australia wants an investigation into the origins of the coronavirus.
Looks like China will impose further restrictions of trade on Australia’s iron ore and coal.
China has already blocked imports of sone Australian beef.
I fear more restrictions or bans will be imposed.
Australia is not a wimp dog and we will not back off.
I trust other countries will stand by us to fight this type of international bullying.

Seems as though many of the old Commonwealth countries may start getting their acts together in dealing with the Chinese.

The CCP has a lot of problems going forward. In five years or less, Australia will be much better off than China. Keep up the pressure!

I have no problem with the people of any country but I am developing a serious dislike for the behaviors displayed by leaders of some of the countries. At present the leaders of China are at the head of the list. The actions taken by the leaders affect the people and it is a sad consequence. Despite those consequences I check the origin of any products that I purchase. If it says Made in China it gets left on the rack/shelf or from mail order. It appears that I am not the only one- I was checking a mail order store and they noted that they have discontinued handling any product Made in China and all that they have on hand is being dumped on closeout. I suppose the rulers of china are glad that they disarmed the civilian population when they took over 70 years ago.

A mate whom was living in Uganda a few years back said that since the Chinese started gaining access to Uganda's resources, that a lot of the locals are having problems getting employed, as the Chinese have been sending their petty criminals there to reform in society. These ex prisoners then taken on any job that they can, and competing with the locals even at shoe shining.

It will not be too long before the locals revolt over the lack of jobs. But I am guessing it is happening Africa wide.

The top and honestly only significant priority for the PRC regime is to stay in power.
I was unaware the port facilities had been so leased, but I'm not totally surprised. The US meat firm Smithfield was so purchased (not leased) a few years back and has been exporting US pork processed by US labor to US standards on US soil for some time up until this year's biowarfare by China on a global scale including their own population. I would be extremely happy if such facilities became nationalized by the US and all such exports of US foodstuffs to PRC banned. Also return to investment in national manufactured goods but I simply don't think that's realistic to expect any nation to succeed doing considering the huge investments made to make PRC the global manufacturing complex to keep finished product costs low plus offshoring of environmental emissions associated with such manufacturing, especially with regard to finished product costs. And the degree of global economic impact shutting down the world's economies recently. It's a nice idea but will require national, not globalist, strength of will to even begin down that road in any real sense. I don't see that as a realistic expectation in enough of the US population, best wishes in Aus.

Their roads are shit.....dont last long at all......And having watched one nice graded dirt road being made into a hard top I know why....it isn't heavily used and pot holes started after bout 5 years.... Areas quickly looked like they had been clusterbombed.....And a tar road with pot holes is way worse than a graded dirt road.....one hole was so big a small canter truck rolled after hitting it.....they are involved in everything here......the mayor of Lusaka is on a bit of a mission against them for racism and running businesses with expired or no documents.... He has closed a couple down in last couple of days....he goes to the business himself with a film crew and doesn't mess around....And reminds where the virus came from and they aren't in wuhan now....But not sure how much he can achieve ....but better than nothing...

And if you think how they treat their own people in China think of their attitude to people here......they arrogant and no manners ...And think they can get away with anything..... Will stop on that subject as my opinions of them ...well the language will be just slightly offensive....

How they seemed to get their hooks in, is under their "One Belt-One Road" initiative. The short explanation is, they offer a country big bucks, say...$1B, at very cheap rates for infrastructure whatever. The condition is they have to hire Chinese companies for the projects and allow these companies to do the work. These companies also use Chinese machines and materials so most of the $1B flows back to China and the countries leaders get to siphon off a few million for themselves.

They do these projects know good and well Country X can't actually afford to pay back the "loan". So, when they can't make the payments, the CCP simply says they will forgive the "loan" provided the country turns over control of the completed project to the CCP and they will pay Country X a small fee/royalty.

What I hope is, these countries get smart and using a process all communists are familiar with...."nationalization". Country X simply nationalizes the CCP built and paid for projects and kicks out all Chinese nationals as reparations for the economic damages the WuFlu has caused to their respective countries. What are the Chinese going to do? They don't have military assets that can "invade" and secure every project they've done in every country they've screwed over.

Sorry for reminding you of the current situation. I am really lucky in Australia, as the roads usually get repaired pretty quickly if they become weathered, or reducing in quality. I have driven on the Kenyan Roads from Nairobi to the Rift Valley, and others. I soon learnt how to play chicken with opposite traveling vehicles, the potholes in the bitumen being so bad that drivers had to weave from one side of the road to the other, and hence playing chicken as the locals do not give way. If you are fool enough to stop at a pot hole on the main roads, you will never get anywhere. My uncle, the 'Bwana Makubwa', told me not to be polite and give way, just put your foot down, do not give way to pedestrians or pushbikes, do not let the local police fool you into paying fines, and whatever you do, if you are driving after dark, do not let anyone pull you up, even if you accidentally run a person over, as you will pay with your life.

I also learnt what a Kenyan Police Road block looks like, and felt it too ! What sort of person puts a huge black boulder in the middle of the main road to Thika, in the middle of the road in the middle of the night in pitch blackness, with no street lighting. Thank god, that the old style Toyota FJ55 Land cruisers were tough, as my uncle hit it at 100 kph. The 4x4 lifted up and leapt over the boulder upon impact. The police then came out of the darkness and said that they were pulling drivers up to check their drivers licenses, and that the boulder was their road block Boy did they run for the hills in fear, when the 'Bwana Makubwa' roared at them in Swahili. Thank god the 4x4 had only minor battle wounds, as we made it to the Thika Rice fields and back, no problems, together with the great bag of ducks that we shot.

The roads here are getting upgraded....so are not bad for a while....but those pot holes do appear out of nowhere.....then of course there is the technical problem of maintaining the old good roads when problems appear..... But oh well can't have everything...

The problem is much deeper than that. If you drive an American made automobile, you have purchased a lot of Chinese components under that hood. If you own a computer, a cell phone, a toaster, etc, etc, etc you have purchased Chinese regardless of the product's label. Until the West decides exporting production is a bad idea, this will continue. Trump is the first post-WWII president to even consider doing something about it. The Dems have supported exportation of production in the name of "Globalism" and conservatives and libertarians have done so in the name "free trade". The net result has been the near destruction of our production industry and a severe weakening of our middle class.

If you own a computer, a cell phone, a toaster, etc, etc, etc you have purchased Chinese regardless of the product's label. Until the West decides exporting production is a bad idea, this will continue. Trump is the first post-WWII president to even consider doing something about it. The Dems have supported exportation of production in the name of "Globalism" and conservatives and libertarians have done so in the name "free trade". The net result has been the near destruction of our production industry and a severe weakening of our middle class.

This pretty much sums up the situation! Too many politicians with too many fingers in the money pile! The peasants get what’s left!
