KMG Hunting Safaris AH Members Group Hunt With BRICKBURN In 2020

We would like to invite you to come and join one of AfricaHunting.com's longest serving sponsors, to hunt the incredible Eastern Cape Province of South Africa, and have an awesome time among other forum members for a fun filled, hard hunting safari.

Group Hunt to be conducted in 2020. Each hunter will have a choice of either a 7 day or 10 day safari, as well as the flexibility of two separate date slots. If there is enough interest, there will be two groups over the listed dates below.

Our very own Super Moderator @BRICKBURN will be present in camp for both date sets.

The dates for the two sets of safaris are as follows:
- 11 August – 22 August 2020
- 28 August – 8 September 2020

Should you decide to only join us for 7 days, you will simply be taken back to the airport on either the 19th of August, or the 5th of September, depending on which group you join.

We have six rooms available, which allows us to host 6 hunters, hunting 1x1. There will be 6 PH's guiding on these group hunts. Should you wish to bring an extra hunter in order to hunt 2x1, and sharing a room with you, this will not be a problem. Should you wish to bring an observer that will share a room with you, please feel free to do so.

Deposit required will be US$1,000. The deposit will be refundable if the minimum hunters required for the group, are not met. Thereafter, the deposit will be non-refundable unless a replacement hunter can be found for the same dates.

The cut-off date in order to join the group hunts will be 15 January 2020. There will need to be at least 4 hunters per group, for the group hunts to commence. Ideally, we would like to have commitments as soon as possible, which will allow us to allocate our first choice PH's to the hunt. I will be available to guide personally on both date sets.

Once booked, members will be added to a group PM message, where all details regarding the trip will be shared.

The hunting days will consist in you going to your own area for the day, and only meeting for either lunch or for dinner in the evening, depending on what you will be pursuing. You will not be sharing hunting areas with anyone and will have sole access to that tract of land for the day. In the event that members want to hunt together on any day, they could hunt 2x2 as well. There are numerous hunting areas that are large enough to sustain two sets of hunters, and in the event where hunters wish to hunt a single area, and meet for lunch in the bush, this can be arranged.

Hunting areas range from 8,000 acres to 40,000 acres. Some areas has a 7 ft fence, other areas only a 4 ft cattle fence. The terrain is quite mountainous, with deep valleys, and thick vegetation in areas. Some walking fitness is required, but your PH will adjust to you capability. Shots can range from 60 yards in the plains to 300 yards from mountain face to mountain face.

We do have a few bow blinds available, so should you wish to bring your bow, please feel free to do so. Select species can be targeted from the blinds. You are also welcome to try your hand at some walk and stalk bow hunting. The areas are mainly for rifle hunting, but should you feel that you would like to kill some time after you have successfully bagged all of your animals, the option is there.

Rifle rental, indeed needed will be set at $30 per day, which includes up to 20 rounds of ammunition. After 20 rounds, the cost is $3 per round.

Offshore fishing charters can be arranged for any interested guests. Costs is $150 per person per day.

Should there be any species not listed, that you are possibly interested in, please do not hesitate to ask.

For me, this idea started just over four years ago with my asking AH Members what they might be interested in participating on at all levels. True to form, AH Members did not disappoint me with the replies they shared.

The poll results were straight forward.

The feedback from members was also straight forward about the structure and design of the AH Member Group hunt.

I have been wanting and thinking about doing an AH group hunt way before anyone approached me ………….... Yes it will be with one of the sponsoring outfitters of AH ...……….
I really want to do this right ………..

I whole heartedly agreed with those sentiments and perhaps that is why it has taken this long. (Procrastination also played a role).

All leading to the Hunt Offer detailed above.

Royal’s reply during the research did lay out some of the concern that a first timer might have when heading to Africa.

The anxiety I remember the first time I went to Africa in 1999 was horrible though. I had this perception that it was nothing like it was, which ………………. you're taken to your destination and there isn't an issue as you're never alone.

I can recall my own anxiety when I did not get a reply from the Outfitter after sending money.

When I read the following comment in a hunt report here on AH, it really sank in how my role here might help fellow hunters feel more comfortable jumping in to a hunt.

I would like to add to @BRICKBURN post, Africa is Africa, but not all is the same. Doesn't take a true hunter long to sum up another hunter.. I gave my PH strict instructions if you shoot a leopard and it doesn't drop on the spot, you come call me for the follow up, Wayne being another client in camp, normally I would have told him to stay in camp, but I knew he wasn't your normal client/ph/hunter, he knew his beat and wouldn't be in the way. What a night we had!

"I have to say that watching this followup unfold with a camera in my hand was a great experience. (How many people do you know that wander around in the dark, unarmed on a Leopard followup?)
I was truly never worried about this Leopard still being alive. Kurt was calm and focused when he left camp to sit this night. Martin (PH) on the other hand, I have seen Mexican jumping beans with less energy than him.[/FONT]

I had plenty of confidence in them getting this Leopard. It was "Chirpy" every time they went near the bait. That Tom owned the country and wanted everyone to know it."

Congratulations. Incredible to be able to be part of this hunt with a very genuine, appreciative and respectful hunter.

To compare this to my first actual PH experience where I had to lead a hunt. Thankfully, it was on a Blesbok. The hardest part was picking out the largest trophy in the herd of 120 animals that never stopped moving. They would bunch up and constantly change positions. How to communicate which animal to the hunter, while calling the shot and making sure we did not end up with extras. The pressure is actually amazing; It’s all on you. When that realization hit, it felt like a ton of bricks. Thankfully, we pulled it off and got a nice Rowland Ward Blesbok ram out of the hunt.
I had some small notion of how Martin was feeling.

All in all, it is indeed a pleasure to watch people experience their hunt and to actually share in it.

Let’s go hunting.

Looks like a great time!

Oh this is going to be epic! Of course I’ve already committed to a trip with my granddaughter! But hopefully this one goes well enough you will be repeating it.

By the way, it looks like a grand lodge in a grand setting!

Sorry that you wont make it for this one. Who knows what the possibilities are for the future.

The hunting terrain is even better than the lodge setting!

Sounds like a blast!

I would love to do this one but like ridgewalker I have already booked the last 2 weeks of September 2020 in the Eastern Cape. Damn if I could only figure out a way to do both.... Might have to do some thinking on this.

Sounds like a plan. :A Bulb:

Would love to join in. If not this time hopefully we can do it again. Marius is my go to PH for the cape for sure!

Why would you put yourself through that again? :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

The airfare is a big part of the expense, so two or three weeks is what I do !

Gluten for punishment. Hey everyone make sure you practice avoiding twigs, rocks, and anything else that can make noise. Otherwise!!!

I figure, if you are going it has to be for long enough that you forget the last plane ride or you won't get back on for the return trip.
