Hello everyone.
At an auction held by the Nordic Safari club I have won a 6 day safari at Trompettersfontein Safaris and Hunting Lodge in South Africa. Are there any of you who know them and can give me some information about them. Both good and bad. Thanks.

Yours sincerely, Poul Martinussen

Hi.
Is there really no one in AH who knows them.?:(
Their website is called http://www.trompettersfontein.com and they operate from Lephalale, Limpopo.
Any kind of info will be very welcome. Thanks.

Poul

I just won an auction last night. Did you end up going. Im looking to go in june 19. I have to talk to them still.

Hi.
Like you I have won an auction as well.

My plan is to go hunting with them the first week of September. I have been corresponding with a man named Bob Deklerk via email. But I must say the are very slow to respond, and I have a hard time getting them to answer all of my questions.

If you go in June, I would very much like to hear how your hunt vent and what was good and bad.

Thanx.

Saw this on their brochure, and caught me by surprise...I was under the impression a hunter was required to be accompanied by a PH.

Maybe it just means if you're a resident of South Africa you don't have to have a PH.

Correct. They obviously cater for local hunters as well.

Many operations in Africa are slow to respond. However, most outfitters here on AH realize the importance of swift communication and do so for their clients. Some people call the situation.......”Africa Time”.
Keep sending emails until you get the answers you require. You have time.

I actually booked my flight june 1st out of Atlanta till June 8th. Im a little nervous as I can't find any reviews of them online. I will keep everyone updated.

Hi

"Im a little nervous as I can't find any reviews of them online." That was also why I started this thread. Fingers crossed for you and look forward to reading about your experiences when you get home.

Yours Sincerely
Poul

How was you hunt with Trompeterfointain? I am excited to hear from someone who has been hunting with them.

Sorry I meant July 1st thru 8th. I leave Monday morning. I'll let you know how it goes right when I get back.

Hello. My review was good overall. I'm literally at airport now going home from trip. Marius the ph was great. He really know how to track animals well. I took a kudu and zebra on top pf the impala, wildebeest, and warthog. Saw plenty of eland and waterbuck monsters. They are worth a look if it's in your budget. I would encourage you not to sit blinds and walk and stalk if you want a better hunt. The skin came off zebra but that was not their fault. A little pressured to take more animals by Bob the father in law of Bob. A extra 300 taxidermy transportation cost was added that was unaware of. Property is on smaller side. Slepping quaters and showers were good. Food good. Pm me for more info.

I just returned home from my Hunter with Trompeters Fontein.
My experience was exceptional, great communication via email with Bob prior to my arrival. I see notes that the responses are slow, my suggestion is to give it time, he always responded within 24 hours.
Upon arrival at the airport Marius was there to pick me up, since I arrived early in the day we had the opportunity to take a look at the rifles, they had available since I had chosen to shot theirs rather than carry a personally owned rifle through the customs and importation headache. I recommend this as an option as it sure made travel in and out of SA simple. They also had a plenty wide selection of rifles so I of course went with the 375 H&H for good measure. While verifying zero on the rifles, they also asked if I was interested in a cross bow, I was so we shot it as well. They have a lot of great blinds set up for Bow hunting, the cross bow made for great work and I ended up shooting most of my trophies with the cross bow.
I had a great hunt from breakfast, to the blinds, some spot and stalk, lunch, spot and stalk, blinds, dinner, drinks, campfire, drinks, desert, drinks, and repeat again the next day until it unfortunately had to come to an end.
I was also fortunate to complete my planned hunt, with some additional animals in a short 4 days, which was outstanding since I had an ulterior motive to make an added trip to Kruger National Park while in the country. It is good to mention that a few days in Marius had a family emergency and needed to leave, so Johan nephew of Bob's came in to guide me through the second half of the hunt. Since Johan was with me for the final 2 days of hunting he agreed to take me on a 3 day trip to Kruger, through Kruger and back to the airport. Amazing experience with some great guys.

they had some great animals on the ranch for sure, as well as some on the ranches around them that they have access to. it was great to see a lot of great stuff roaming around.

How was your trip? Would you go back with them?

I would encourage you to give them a shot. they have some great animals and Marius has been doing this for so long if he has animals but they aren't trophy quality yet, he will tell you and find you a trophy on another ranch as well as take you to the other ranch to hunt.
great group of guys. I would encourage you to bring a group they are set up for a group of friends to have a great time in the evenings as well
