So, I Was In The Loading Room Today...

My Re-loading room is my Garage which has a tendency to smell like Cigar smoke, I'm thinking my car needs a new Catalytic Converter

You’re not alone and for me it’s only about 105 in there now.
I feel ya', chief. I got up early yesterday morning (0500 on a Saturday isn't particularly unusual for me, but I digress). Walked into the kitchen to put on coffee, exterior thermometer showed 80º, and there was the morning's dew, HEAVY on all of the windows. I thought to myself "eff my life!!!" I could have lived with the heat and humidity, but going out there would have meant a spray-down with deet on top of everything else.

I've got almost 500 bullets for my 45-70 that are waiting to be reloaded, about 160 for my 9.3x62, I think about 100 for my 6.5x55, and almost 300 for my .308 Win. Gotta be 10# of powder in the cabinet, and probably only about 500 primers.

But if I wait for decent weather and no mosquitoes, hunting season will have come and gone already.

:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

I'm so glad I'm not alone in sometimes just going to the basement to stare at bullets and brass or peruse loading manuals.
My reroading setup is about a quarter of my basement... And it isn't enough! I feel claustrophobic!!!! I NEED HELP!!! :Wtf:

If you did not feel claustrophobic, the prescription would be to purchase more components and cram them into your loading area until you did feel claustrophobic!

Tim,
May I suggest hug therapy or possibly a comfort animal? I think these may help as you haven’t gotten to the point of rolling around in a golden wildebeest loincloth in a pile of 500 grain Swift A-Frames while chanting load data. Not to offend anyone that does such of course. I have had some of the best conversations with myself in the reloading room although some of the arguments get quite heated at times especially over CBL and CRF vs. Push feed!
We can work through this, maybe a new No. 1 in 30-40 Krag is just what the Dr ordered!

I would like a 30-40 Krag in Ruger no.1

Here are a few rounds I loaded this weekend, for the rifle I haven't picked up yet. 180gr Sierra left slightly long so I can fine-tune the OAL once I get the rifle:

Reloading is therapy. There is something complete in you when you make your own ammo and get results that you can eat. My reloading room is a foldable black and decker workbench with my reloader bolted to a board clamped to it. I'm needing to talk to my wife about a reloading room!

I started at 16 in the basement on my Dad's workbench. This was sometime in 1974.

Then I got my own bench, in the basement.

Fast forward 44 years, about 20 moves, and numerous iterations of benches and rooms (including a couple of closets!) to where now as a more-or-less empty-nester, I can take as much space as I want!

It was a long time coming, and I am enjoying it!

Best of luck in your progression!

A requirement for my next house is a 3-car garage. The 3rd stall will be walled off and have hvac pumped in.

I agree with those that think reloading is therapeutic. Just look at all the money you save by not having to go to a "shrink." RELOADERS UNITE !!!!

Yes....therapy...but sometimes therapy has side-effects!

Like today - I was loading .470 NE ammo and I finished-off an 8 pound jug of IMR 4831.

Now, a loading block full of nice, big .470 NE ammo with Barnes Banded Solids is enough to make a man want to drool on himself. But that empty 8 pounder? I went running to my wife, crying like a baby..."I need to make a Powder Valley order"!

So yeah, kind of a mixed blessing, this therapy. Until I make that order. Then all is right with the world again.

Is anyone else paranoid that powder and primers will dry up again? I still have an un-opened 8 pounder of IMR 4831 in the loading room (and another 300 pounds of other powders) but that old saw "two is one, and one is none" keeps running through my brain-housing-group!

:)

I think there is still a fear of primers and powders. The largest and most popular store dedicated to re-loaders in the Twin Cities still has a limit on the amount of any one powder they will sell to any one customer. John the owner said he eliminated hoarders from buying up all his inventory. Not so with the big box and on line stores

I was very surprised to find federal 215M primers on the shelves at the two gun stores in Darwin, Australia! If I thought I would have got away with it they would have all been in my suitcase. I’m down to about 10k and getting nervous again. Finding 215M primers here are as hard as finding a rational thought from Maxine Waters!

Check your email....fast!

Too late!
Haha...you trying to corner the market??

Now that I know Cody got his ordered...anyone else looking for 215M head over to Natchez. They are on sale for $38!
