Or they would say the "hunter" did it.

SCI ALERT
Folks: last week hunting suffered another direct attack! SCI kicked off a campaign on Friday, Dec. 18 with great participation and for that we thank you. To date we have been able to send over 2,300 emails to the hotels, but that is just a start. We need to do more and in case you missed it or didn’t have a chance to respond, this is your chance to stand united and fight to protect hunting.
Although these attacks are targeted in Canada this time, don’t be fooled. Just recently our SCI 2016 Convention experienced similar attacks from the antis, resulting in entertainers breaking their contracts.
Who will be targeted next? Your chapter fundraiser or organization?
Please take a minute to respond by clicking the link in the letter below. We also ask that you share this with family, friends, colleagues and anyone who you think will help us protect our rights and freedoms as hunters.
This is one way you can help save hunting directly. Now is the time to stand up for hunting. The future of hunting is in your hands. And all you need to do is click on the link. Future generations of hunters thank you for saving our heritage so they and their children and grandchildren can enjoy the freedoms we have today.

The antis are at it again and only we can stop them and make businesses accountable for caving to what amounts to a vocal minority! The entire hunting community needs to come together and show our strength, and SCI members should lead the way. This attack on hunting was led by the Animal Justice Group and they won’t stop until we band together.
This week two hotels canceled contracts with the African Sporting Events Show. These hotels did not cancel due to “security concerns” or “construction” or any other excuse they can think of. No, these hotels caved, plain and simple. They caved to a petition signed by a mere 3,000 anti-hunting extremists. These hotels did not bother to talk to us, the true conservationists. They did not bother to learn what role hunting has played and continues to play is conservation. No, they caved.
That is why we are asking you to send emails to these hotels by clickingHEREand express your disappointment and outrage at their succumbing to emotion rather than science and facts. This email explains that if they are not willing to to rescind these decisions then you will have no choice but to no longer support the hotels and their affiliates.
If we band together we can easily surpass the 3,000 signatures on the antis petition. All you have to do is send this to two hunters you know at a minimum. Animal Justice won’t stop until we stand up and say enough is enough.
The two properties that shamelessly caved into anti-hunting pressure were the Holiday Inn Toronto International Airport location and the Saskatoon Inn in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.
Let’s stand together and stop the insanity.

Keep it going.
You have key board please use it to make a difference.

I just spoke to to the Executive Director of the Saskatchewan Wildlife Federation, and apparently a new venue has been chosen for the Africa Hunting Event in Saskatoon. The public announcement will be made once all the details are worked out. However, the Saskatoon Inn has not changed it's stance. They have lost the Wildlife Federation's annual convention. As well, the Saskatchewan Outfitters Association has crossed the Saskatoon Inn off their list. This is not insignificant blow to the hotels bottom line, but I got the impression that the decsions are being made in Toronto rather than in Saskatoon.
Keep the e-mails coming!

Here is hoping for record attendence at the new venue!

To me, the point now is more to make other venues go oh **** than it is to get one that subcombed to pressure to subcomb again to more pressure. This could very well end up being a victory in the long run.

When the balance sheet comes down next year they will be reminded of the choice.

Yah, I would like the dates and new place. Depending on the date, I may go. I normally would not have when I have DSC in Dallas, but considering just to make a point.

Exactly! Drop by the Saskatoon Inn and say your staying elsewhere while you're at it.

I sent from the SCI website. It was really easy. No word yet from OFAH to my email :Banghead:. Let's keep the pressure up! Email OFAH to take a stand! And use the SCI link for a quick email out to the hotels. :V Boxing:

OFAH have consistently spent far more resources on fishermen than hunters. That is why I am no longer a member.

Suggestions?
Major PR firm hired by everyone involved in the hunting industry that stands to loose money if this continues. A fund started to help with costs. I would gladly pay a yearly membership for this.

John, you're explanation above sounds just like SCI.

Marius, it could be just like SCI (should be), but I think that this requires special skills, which SCI doesn't possess. And I think there are other reasons why SCI wouldn't be best placed to take this on.

Frankly, if there was one umbrella group to do the organizing, that group could and and should approach not only hunters and outfitters (we are always the easy ones to approach), but also firearms manufacturers, outdoor gear makers, governments of countries with hunting, animal breeders and ranchers, publishers of hunting magazines, videos and books, television networks, etc., etc., etc. There are enough organizations which make money from hunting and hunters that I would think you could raise a reasonable amount of money. Run it with low administrative costs and complete financial transparency. Create a logo for use by those who participate/contribute. Convince hunters that they should seek out organizations which contribute to the sustainability/social license for our sport. This could be done.

It would likely be best if that group was not SCI or DSC, etc., just because it's hard to break down silos, and groups that are in any way competitive would find it difficult to do what needs to be done, human nature being what it is. Perhaps something like John Jackson's Conservation Force?

I believe such an organization could be extremely effective on a global basis and could begin to sway the conversation towards more rational and sustainable themes.

Well said Hank2211.....A major campaign needs to start NOW.

Get hotels and businesses to sign up to this "movement" as well. The organization members can then have a list of "Hunter Friendly" members, that we can support as a thanks for their support.

Marius, do you really believe SCI is doing enough? I would have to respectfully disagree. There have been silent when Cecil occurred, they could and should have responded on social media and elsewhere for the public to not convict until all the facts are in. They did not. Where are they on the airline ban? I could go on and on, I see SCI as a "company" that looks out for their bottom line instead of TRULY protecting hunters rights. Why in the world would they associate themselves recently with that "stock deal". What does that have to do with hunters rights and protection?. I for one need to see much more when it comes to our rights. And I know you as a PH needs to have U.S. clients come and hunt and spend money in Africa. The way it's going I m not sure where this wheel will stop.
