Okay thought everyone would like what I am trying to do and need your help please on a piece of clothing. I belong as do a few other AH members to a wonderful international club called Carruthers. We have our own version of taking the Macnab consisting of taking a cape buffalo, a partridge or grouss, a red stag and a tiger fish. I have my buffalo and in September of this year the beautiful Mrs. Rare Breed has given me permission to go to Scotland to take my stag and bird. I want to dress like a proper Scottish gentleman for the occasion! I have my Rigby tweed shooting vest. I am looking for something that matches for pants hoping to find some pants at the knee I thing are called knickers with stockings. I have the tie I will wear

Anyone know where I can find these please? I have reached out to Franz but do not see anything on the Rigby site

Should be fun!!!

That’s the spirit! That’s a great idea.

Check out Rydells.com, they are a UK clothing company with reasonable pricing for UK country and sporting clothing and will ship to the US

I wear Walker and Hawkes clothing from England when I hunt in the UK and Wales. They offer quality hunting clothing at very reasonable prices. You don't really need to wear anything beyond what you would wear in the Fall, but it's cool to dress in the traditional dress. www.walkerandhawkes.com

Actually it is Rydale.com

Is this part of the Clan Carruthers?

Check out House of Bruar or Walker Slater they are the go-to for traditional Scottish tweed and usually have a variety of patterns that play well with Rigby gear.

Try London Trading in Buckhead. I have bought breeks from them in the past. They should be able to get you suited up to such a level that you will very likely be as addressed as M'Lord by everyone. you encounter in the UK. https://www.londontradingcompany.com/

I would love to do a Scottish highland stag hunt in traditional clothing. I would also love to try and do a MacNab in Scotland.
I’m going to try and go when Stag, grouse and fishing is all in season.

When you arrive in the UK pop to a gun shop and you’ll be able to pick up some tweed breeks fairly cheaply. I’d recommend Alan Paine as a high quality affordable brand. Or schoffel if you want something even nicer! I’d also recommend getting a Schoffel 1/4 zip gilet if you really want to look the part too as they look very nice paired with a checked shirt underneath if the weather is warm!

What an exciting plan Rare Breed.

I'll weigh in here as you are talking about sport and a part of the world that I am very familiar with. As a Brit I spent 20+ years of hunting Scotland hard, culling deer and sport hunting all year round and the last 19+ years as a member of a deer syndicate in Scotland.

Those funny trousers are "breeks" and they are very widely available in the UK, if you need help reach out (PM me) and I can sort anything for you. The socks can indeed be called "Stockings", "shooting socks" or "wellie socks". You should also have a pair of sock garter ties.

The Scottish season for Red Stags is July 1st to October the 20th. The best time to hunt red stag is in the first 2 weeks of October typically, this is the "roar".

The grouse season is August 12th until December 10th.

I assume you are already booked in with someone for your trip? When are you planning to be there?

Feel free to share a photo of your vest and I will be able to recommend some places that can provide a suitable suggestion, my best friend is a shooting coach at a place called Eaton Hall in Doverage, they have a very large well stocked shooting shop that I'm sure can help out. I can arrange the purchase and sending to you and they will also return or exchange if something does not fit well.

The owner at Eaton Hall is also a personal friend. Eaton Hall just won "Best Shooting Ground in the UK"

PM me if I can be of help with any other aspects of your trip.

Ideally when matching a vest with breeks they need to be from the same company to ensure they are the same tweed with the same pattern.

I would wait till you get to the UK to get some breeks if Rigby don’t do a matching set on their website.
you can get some quality breeks for less than £60 from a shop. You will then want some knee high shooting socks and garter ties (tassels) too to go with the breeks

I'll PM you tomorrow.

Here is an example of typical tweed, breeks (aka plus fours) and shooting socks.

The proper name is Plus Fours as they are four inches below the knee. My favorites are moleskin. Or is has a nice version.

Good morning from Montana.

I'm looking at a post from 2018 where you were looking for a lefty Winchester in .375 H&H Magnum. I'm selling mine. My email is kdp59935@gmail.com in the event that you're still searching for a unicorn.

Best,

Kelly Palmer

Hello, I asked the question I did simply to bump it to the top for you. I have a 416 Taylor or I would be very interested in it! It's a real beauty!
Gents, if you book and pay your deposit before the end of this year , you can have the bigger cull package for the 2026 price! https://www.africahunting.com/threa...griffiths-safaris-starting-at-us-2-560.96285/
I am currently in Northern Cape scouting a hunting area, we will have lots of amazing hunting opportunities for 2027! I will post updated available dates soon!

Couple of quick questions:

1) Can we add some additional species on
2) what do you want for a deposit?
