The Macnab challenge Carruthers Club style

In this world I no longer am the experienced hunter nor in the proper Scottish atire so I so appreciate everyone’s help so I represent our great AH members on my hunt!!!

Here in the UK we call them breeks or breeches and, as someone else has said they are often known as 'plus twos' or 'plus fours' depending on how many inches of 'bagginess' you want to allow for movement for crawling.

If you want a set made in Scotland try the likes of Campells of Beauly https://www.fifecountry.co.uk/country-sports/clothing/tweeds-and-breeks

House of Bruar is great but my estate tweed suit made by them was made in Ireland.

I have bagged all of the species on your list, let me know if you start a UK chapter!!

Here is a quick useful list of general online UK retail shooting clothing stores that come to mind for anyone looking at UK hunting clothing, there are lots of custom and specialist producers:

John Norris

Philip Morris & Son

Yorkshire Field Sports Apparel

Farlows

Cordings

The Sporting Lodge

Jack Pyke Shop

Hollands

Outdoor & Country

The shooting sock company (strongly recommended)

Okay thought everyone would like what I am trying to do and need your help please on a piece of clothing. I belong as do a few other AH members to a wonderful international club called Carruthers. We have our own version of taking the Macnab consisting of taking a cape buffalo, a partridge or grouss, a red stag and a tiger fish. I have my buffalo and in September of this year the beautiful Mrs. Rare Breed has given me permission to go to Scotland to take my stag and bird. I want to dress like a proper Scottish gentleman for the occasion! I have my Rigby tweed shooting vest. I am looking for something that matches for pants hoping to find some pants at the knee I thing are called knickers with stockings. I have the tie I will wear

Anyone know where I can find these please? I have reached out to Franz but do not see anything on the Rigby site

Should be fun!!!

These guys will make to measure. They supply the stalkers and ghillies of many Scottish estates

Okay it is done!!! I have booked Delta round trip 8 hour trip for $1746. I have matching breeches, waste coat, shirts, flat hat and tie. Also also have dinner kilt set. Will be taking my Rigby Highland Stalker in 275 Rigby and practicing shooting 200 yards prone. Should be epic!!! Thanks so very much for everyone’s help!!!

Fantastic! Hope you have a great time!
If you get the chance to go stalking for other deer species whilst in the UK you should definitely try for a Muntjac!

The outfitter just told me I will see 300-400 stags over two days!!!
Deer numbers in the UK are higher than ever. Here is a good video that shows what you can expect. It shows the typical terrain and typical weather.

Make sure you have a lightweight set of breathable waterproof clothing, expect some hands and knees crawling in the wet. No matter what the weather or conditions there is nothing like being out on the hill.

Good luck with your hunt.

My brother would live for this thread ha

He dreams of hunting the UK. So much so he wears proper attire for waterfowl hunting here on the farm. He sure does look dapper, even got my dad wearing tweed hat now haha

Great, have you got a bipod for the .275? That is very much the norm for the hill in Scotland

I will be following your Hunt with great interest.

I am tentatively planning a 2027 Northern European tour. Not with my band.

Start in London, move through Ireland (if it calms down) and then onto Scotland for hopefully a McNabb. I really hoped to time it with the Isle of Man TT. But that’s in May and won’t work with Hunting season.

See you are from Denmark - see quite a few Danes where I stalk in Scotland - great hunters.
The Harkilia stuff works well in Africa - I have a bit for use here in UK.
I am again looking for 600 Nitro dies preferably RCBS 1 inch. The set I purchased previously are 1 1/2 inch and do not fit my die. Another member has graciously taken them off my hands. If anyone happens to have a set of 600 Nitro Dies that will fit my Rockchucker Supreme RCBS press, please shoot me a message and thanks in advance for any assistance you may have to offer!
I have not posted any items for sale on this forum and will not every put anything for sale. My account was hacked and I've worked with the admin to get things shut down.
