Are you adding flashes to your kit?

The last time I shot driven over there one of the guys in our group went to Purdey and dropped about $1000 on various colored flashes for each day.

lol…I am such a rookie in Scotland for my first time I don’t even know what they are!

Mrs BeeMaa and I had the traditional kilts worked out a number of years (and pounds) ago. I'd be much happier hunting in moleskin breeks and a tweed jacket.

Decorative things you put at the tops of your socks. Some are a little plaid flight like thing. Some are more like a scarf that’s tied around the top of the sock. Sometimes called garter ties.

Got it!!! I bought two that match my outfit!!!

@Rare Breed - Thank you for the kind words my friend. Also wanted to let you know that traditionally a Scottish tartan pattern is not supposed to be worn above the belt. This has been changing over the past 50-60 years with people wearing tartan ties and such.

Some adhere to this while others don’t, and for reasons they hold their own. Call it ‘old guard’ vs ‘current trends’.

I have matching breeches, waste coat, shirts, flat hat and tie. Also also have dinner kilt set. Will be taking my Rigby Highland Stalker in 275 Rigby

Sounds like blast, if I hunted the UK I think dressing for the part would be part of the experience.

I have no desire to wear a kilt or to see anyone shooting prone wearing a Kilt.

.

What a lot of fun! End of September there will be lots of midges on the hill (black flies) so take plenty of repellent.

May I throw out a few tips / thoughts -

1/ you can have four seasons in one afternoon on the hill - rain, sleet, sun & fog & more. Take a decent rain jacket
2/ good boots are essential especially if you are walking up the hill & down again.
3/ carry a spare shirt - if you get wet / sweaty hiking up, a change of shirt is often a blessing
4/ you are not "hunting" you are "stalking"
5/ its not a flat hat but rather a cap
6/ use the stalkers scope rather than bothering to take your own and above all
7/ have fun & take lots of pictures !!

Wishing you a great time in Scotland!

The above is all well intended ;)

Don't worry about Ireland. The news makes everyone think the country is in total turmoil...it ain't. I spend time there and I'm more concerned about being caught in the rain without an umbrella.

I've got the buff, the grouse, and the tiger fish. The stag isn't scheduled yet, but I'd love to get one in Eastern Europe. BTW, the tiger was supposedly 7+ kilos.

Here in the UK we call them breeks or breeches and, as someone else has said they are often known as 'plus twos' or 'plus fours' depending on how many inches of 'bagginess' you want to allow for movement for crawling.

If you want a set made in Scotland try the likes of Campells of Beauly https://www.fifecountry.co.uk/country-sports/clothing/tweeds-and-breeks

House of Bruar is great but my estate tweed suit made by them was made in Ireland.

I have bagged all of the species on your list, let me know if you start a UK chapter!!

Here’s me in a full set of estate tweeds. Most estates in Scotland (and some in England) have their own unique tweed pattern. This tweed is Balavil, an estate in Inverness-shire that belonged to my wife’s family until it was sold ten years ago

I do not given I would have to drill a hole in my Rigby which I will not do. Practicing shooting off my back pack prone
I’m sure you will have a sling swivel stud fitted, most of use Harris bipods that fit on the stud but, a backpack works just as well

If you mean sock garters they are for driven bird shooting not stalking traditionallly over here

See you are from Denmark - see quite a few Danes where I stalk in Scotland - great hunters.
The Harkilia stuff works well in Africa - I have a bit for use here in UK.
I am again looking for 600 Nitro dies preferably RCBS 1 inch. The set I purchased previously are 1 1/2 inch and do not fit my die. Another member has graciously taken them off my hands. If anyone happens to have a set of 600 Nitro Dies that will fit my Rockchucker Supreme RCBS press, please shoot me a message and thanks in advance for any assistance you may have to offer!
I have not posted any items for sale on this forum and will not every put anything for sale. My account was hacked and I've worked with the admin to get things shut down.
