That depiction of the Levant in books and flight maps was pretty much the rule throughout the Middle East after1947. Things have very slowly changed somewhat. With respect to flight maps, Egypt, Jordan, and the UAE all now have regularly scheduled flights into Israel. All official maps in those countries will show the state of Israel and its cities. Qatar has been one of the holdouts, in large measure due to its carefully balanced relationship with Iran. I haven't flown the Saudi airline in decades, but I do know that the Saudi's still do not show Israel in text books. The government there is constantly having to keep a weather eye on both the Sunni fundamentalists and the large Shia population. The Abraham Accords would have changed that, but those initiatives are on the far back burner as a result of Hamas and Gaza.

But to your point - yes, absolutely a message.

I hadn't heard that, but I will be very surprised if it doesn't turn out to be true. I thought there had to be a connection to the trans activists or the the pro Hamas/anti Israel crowd.

I don't know the truth. Some of these right-wing media outlets are getting to be just as bad as the left with pushing misinformation
