Politics

Maybe this is a bit early but here's to a remembrance of Memorial Day.

I did my radio program yesterday over the history of Memorial Day - I am something of a pessimist regarding our current population's concern for our country's history, and I try to fight it when I can. In reading about 'In Flander's Fields' and its history, I was mindful of some of the discussions here between our Canadian members and American members.

Here's to remembering, with great gratitude, those who have fallen, while also acknowledging that while our two countries have had some real douche bag leaders of late, we can still hope to weather their storms and eventually realize a brighter future.

Cheers my fellow AH members.

I know at times the few Canadians on here myself included have debated on carneys intentions, this should shed some light on who’s interests he’s actually protecting.

Anyone noticed this affecting places ?...

I’ve been trying to plan something in the USA in July for the last two months….

Judging by the lack of availability and high prices I would say it’s a non-issue.

Not at least with airline booking's.

Bloomberg and WSJ said the same thing, but they are behind a pay wall, so didn't link.

This was my daughter's deal as the law partner managing the US Steel (her client) merger with Nippon Steel. She had already won one lawsuit against Biden with the deal going back for review to "Committee on Foreign Investment in United States".

Hopefully, Trump will not change his mind tomorrow.

Exactly! I have friends who have joined together in a sort of armed militia to defend their farms. A few years ago I was on a farm in the western cape. A week later the neighbors were dead in a vicious farm attack. These folks live in gated compounds in continual readiness for an attack. Any attempt to downplay this is ludicrous. I am glad that it is finally getting the attention it deserves.

I learned that in 2008, during my first Afrian Safari

Hopefully not. Blocking that transaction was an egregiously foolish decision.

Can't find the article, but apart from the time to build the factories in the usa, I think they worked out that the costs of making iPhones in usa would make them around usd 3500 to sell...
Figure it out . How many years have they exploited cheap Chinese labor for their corporate profits while screwing America. Exploited the system. Maybe it's time for them to pay up. And I an a Capitalist.

What do I need to figure out?...... :E Shrug:

Contrary to popular belief it is not just cheap Chinese labor. We just do not have the skilled labor base to produce the iPhones in the quantities required.

Also, people paying would be the customers, not Apple. Apple or any company for that matter, is not going to sell their products below cost. And I thought you were a capitalist and could understand that.

PS: Since when selling reasonably priced products is screwing America?

What are these skills to build cell phones that you do not think we have in the USA?

We also need to be sensible about this. Those evil corporate profits paid for the cost of production wherever it occurred and were garnered by investors - directly or indirectly through 401K's and mutual funds. Lots of Americans benefitted from that still competitive enterprise. Bringing something "back" which will simply fail because the product is no longer competitive is a loss for everyone.

If it is a supply chain item rather than an end item like an iPhone, the damage done the American consumer is multiplied wherever and whatever that product touches in production.

Many of us have heard firsthand stories while visiting the great country of South Africa. But unfortunately, Trump has given the detractors just enough ammo to argue with his position.

It just boggles the mind that with all the resources Trump has, he pulls up wrong Internet information to show the world. Such as some of the pictures he showed were from the Congo, and he kept repeating that the crosses were actual graves. Instead of a monument to demonstrate the number killed.

His larger point is correct that rural people are being persecuted by crime and gangs, but just giving a tiny bit of false info gives the detractors ammunition.

listening to CNN today they are saying this whole argument is from white supremacist and racist inside ZA.

I love what Trump stands for in the larger sense and he is attacking a lot of things that need to be corrected. I just wish he would let other people speak to those issues. He steps all over his own message.

For instance, his commencement speech at West Point today was 50-50 when he stayed on the written speech it was OK.

then he veered off into politics and probably wondered why the officers and cadets could not clap when he got into politics.
I agree....I watched his speech today....was hoping to hear a little more uplifting comments to the graduating cadets. Speech was ok, but.......too many politics thrown in.

Has to be about him - not them.

Here you go, explained in detail.

It’s pretty simple, corporations have no choice but to produce their product in the most efficient way possible. If they don’t, they are out of business. How many people will pay 50% more for a product because it is made in the USA. Answer, not enough for the company to stay in business.

There was an experiment...

From the article:

Of the more than 25,000 people who visited the website during the two-week trial, about 600 ordered the imported showerhead. Not a single person clicked on the more expensive, "Made in the USA" model.

Back After a Long Time – Hello Again!

Hi everyone,

I’ve been a member since 2015 but haven’t been active since 2017. Life got busy, especially with building my second business. Still, I’ve kept my passion for hunting and followed things from afar. Now that I have more time, I’m excited to reconnect, contribute, and be part of the community again.

All the best,
ANDY

I'd like a bag of 100. I could actually pick it up since I'm in North Irving, but if you prefer, shipping it is fine.
