My wife.

She has the eyes of an eagle when it comes to spotting game. From squirrels to rabbit and whitetail to kudu...she picks them out like no one I've ever seen. Even amazed our PH and tracker. You can't shoot what you can't find.

Plus, the obvious addition of her company. ;)

Over my hunting career I have found several inventions that, to me, are ingenious and worked to perfection on certain hunts.

Cabela's Safari Sling- I found this before my first Cameroon forest hunt. It is a 2 inch rifle sling which goes over your shoulder and your rifle is parallel to the ground. I have used this for 61 or 62 days in the forest and it is perfect. No round in the chamber and grab the barrel and direct the rifle through thick vegetation.

Pin on compass- so convenient, have used this all over the world

Thermacell- the first time this was described to me I immediately called bullshit! However, living in Louisiana, I can attest that it works perfectly!!

Ultraflex Rubber Rifle Sling-another item I thought would not be worth the money, however used one last year on a Zim buff hunt. Attached it to my 500 A2, made carrying a heavy magnum much more comfortable

A friend.

My wife doesn’t hunt, so I’m one step behind @BeeMaa with this one. I’ve learned that hunting and hunting trips are much more enjoyable with a friend or family member along. While I still hunt alone, I much prefer to hunt with a friend.

Small pocket flashlight - small enough to have a hat clip … used so many times to find my dropped glasses in the deer blind, find the path out at night or dig out car keys. Also helpful to get a cold beer from the cooler when back at the truck after dark on safari!

Good binoculars, if I have the sense to make use of them. I don't have the game spotting ability of Bemaa's wife, until I lift the binos. The only whitetail deer I have successfully stalked would have in no way been accomplished without them. Super early and late--no contest. More important than a good scope, and safer than putting a scope on a fellow hunter by mistake.

Sir, I will gladly take that 16 gauge off your hands. I was waiting for your Winchesters but I'm a sucker for a 16 ga.

I bought a great deal of the brass he had for sale, plus I already had many hundred rounds.

How much brass are you looking for?
