Hey guys, how's it going? My name is John

I’ve seen it done on hunting videos-pretty sure he resorted to the big bolt action the ph was packing before he finished though.
I like the buffalo hunting idea, hope it becomes a reality for you (y)

Welcome, originating from the east coast I had the same idea. It will not take long around here to go down the big bore bolt action rabbit hole. Best wishes on your hunt. John

:S Welcome:

Orininally a Potter County stumpjumper here.
Welcome aboard!

Good day! Welcome to AH! May you live the dream soon!

YOU MIGHT WANT TRY A 405 WIN WITH SOLIDS AND SOFT POINTS
OR GO WITH THE HEAVY 50 CAL LEVER ACTION MAXIMUM LOADS

I am fairly sure that Trailing the Hunter's Moon just had an episode with a lever action in Africa. 45-70 if my memory is correct.

I will if I have too but as I've gotten older I have been using my lever guns more often than not here at home so I thought why not try to follow my dream.

Dense Brush Danger was the episode

Cape Buffalo is exactly why I bought my 45/70 BUT the more I research the topic the more it sounds like a bad idea. On the bright side I love my 45/70 and for the little bit I spent on it it was a great investment that I can play with.

Welcome to AH!

Welcome! If you really want to hunt Cape buffalo with a lever gun. Perhaps think along the lines of a 475 Turnbull. Not cheap but not as much as a double rifle either. That cartridge can be loaded to commonly considered adequate velocities with less than maximum bullet weights. Think maybe along the lines of 350 grain TSX?

I believe Tony Makris successfully hunted buffalo with his lever gun on the Under Wild Skies TV series;)

Welcome to AH! You can definitely hunt Buffalo with a lever gun, but to be on the safe side look into 50 Alaskan, 45-90, 475 Turnbull, or the 50-110 Winchester with proper bullets. All the best to your dream, be sure to post pictures when it happens!

Welcome ! I am from Pennsylvania as well, but have lived in Alaska for the past 18 years. Like you I dreamed of hunting Cape Buffalo for most of my life and made that dream a reality 3 months ago. I am sure it could be done with a .45-70 with a stout load and modern bullets, have to find a PH that will go along with the idea.

G’day from Australia

Jake, Sorry to bug you again. I was wondering if you could share a. couple actual pics of this crossbow with me?

Xpedition Archery USED Scrapeline390X Sniper Gray Crossbow XACW1001 - Light Wear - Needs Bolt/Arrow Guide Spring UA5689

If it is in a decent shape, would you be willing to sell it for $100 shipped? IS it missing the retention spring that goes over the bolt?
Thank you Ferenc

Good morning John, I just read your setup procedure for the northstar duplicator ator. I found it very hand and I did learn some things. I have the same machine and I am having a problem i can not figure out and was hoping you could shed some light on the subject.
