ZIMBABWE: A Local Hunt To The Save

Kevin thanks for sharing. I enjoyed reading your writing. I also like the Pith helmets , I think they were a nice touch.
Thanks @dchamp glad that you enjoyed as much as we did. Tha pithys make a great bush hat, light and built for a purpose back then that is still valid today. We make one adjustment - we increase the size of the vent at the top, keeps it cooler.

Awesome trip ! I love the looks of your 375 Flanged and have to order one of those gun stands soon. I hate you have had so much trouble out of that rifle.

I couldn't agree more...

A few years ago I toured through Vietnam (holiday tourist). It was amazing how many of their armed forces, law enforcement and general population wear pith helmets as everyday wear. Light, cool and great in both blazing sun and tropical downpours. Obviously they couldn't care less about the colonial French connotations, practicality wins.

Kevin,
I have shared a camp with Dalton twice, 2017 and 2019, he is a steady very squared away young man. He was an appy in 2017 and I think was preparing for his final exam in 2019, he passed with flying colors.

Sounds like a fun hunt and a great time.

Congratulations to all.

Thanks for sharing your memories.

Glad to hear the Cohibas made an appearance at the buffalo river party. Nothing celebrates a successful hunt like a great cigar! Congrats!

Yes, we asked him what his plans were and he said "to become the best PH ever". There are some pretty big shoes to fit enen just in the Save, but something tells me this young man will grow big feet.

Enjoyed, thanks.

Wonderful recap and adventure.

Resurrecting this thread as somehow I missed this report when researching my trip to the Save. Enjoyed reading your report and I hope I get the opportunity to hunt buffalo with Dalton some day. I have only been on one safari so Dalton is the best PH I have ever used... that's almost mission accomplished right!?

Good Afternoon,
How firm are you on your Dakota 416? I am highly interested but looking at a few different guns currently.

Best,
BJ

What is the minimum you would take.

I have a Chapuis 450-400 double that looks brand new and shoots well, never been hunted from what I can tell. I am willing to part with it as I have a 375 H&H Sodia on it's way from Dorleac & Dorleac. I am looking for $9,250 for it and if you are interested, I am happy to send you some pictures. Regards,
Steve
