To start off 17 years ago I had my hands on my first big bore rifle a Winchester .416 rem mag. I recieved that rifle as payment for some work I had done and the guy didnt have the cash, three years later I was in the same position as that guy and that rifle was gone in the wind. Now today on my thirty sixth birthday my wife suprised me with a brand new .416 rem mag that I never plan on parting with!! Now to continue my 2022 cape buffalo hunting plans.

That is a considerate spouse! You might have to put her initials somewhere on the rifle! (Or on the leather sling!)

I’ve got almost the same story except I got rid of the wife and kept the 416! Lol

nice rifle, better keep both of them!

Wow what can I say. You have a keeper! Good luck planning your buff hunt.

Lucky man!

That is one rare lady. Never let her go.

That's very cool. Very nice indeed.

Yah, you might hold onto that lady as well as the rifle, congrats!

Congrats sir!

My wife is not for sale or trade either, as 26 years ago, she gave me a 416 Wby. and she is still my wife, and goes with me every year.

I can relate. When we became engaged I had to sell my deer rifle in order to buy her engagement ring. The first Christmas after we married she bought me a Winchester 100 .308. Fifty years later I still have her and the rifle.

JD,
Seems you are a blessed man. Take care of both and they will look after you for many years.
Engraving your bride's initials on the rifle does three things. It says "thank you" to her, and reminds you of her every time you look at it. Secondly, it'll make it less likely anyone would buy it from you in the future!
Congrats!

IF YOU DON'T COME UP WITH ANY .458, I WILL TRY AND GET MY KID TO PACK SOME UP FOR YOU BUT PROBABLY WOUDN'T BE TILL THIS WEEKEND AND GO OUT NEXT WEEK.

I'm unfortunately on a diet. Presently in VA hospital as Agent Orange finally caught up with me. Cancer and I no longer can speak. If all goes well I'll be out of here and back home in Thailand by end of July. Tough road but I'm a tough old guy. I'll make it that hunt.

Nice one there. I guided for mulies and elk for about 10 or so years in northern New Mexico.

Business is the only way to fly. I'm headed to SA August 25. I'm hoping that business isn't an arm and a leg. If you don't mind, what airline and the cost for your trip. Mine will be convoluted. I'll be flying into the states to pick up my 416 Rigby as Thailand doesn't allow firearms (pay no attention to the daily shootings and killings) so I'll have 2 very long trips.
