What do guys consider the ideal weight for a .416?

Hi all
I see you mention 416 rem mag in original post
Go for it
Hunted with one for years it’s great and shoots like a dream. 416. Rigby has a lot more recoils

Think about a reflex sight
Works like a charm and gives
You a bit
More confidence around 80-100m if it’s needed

Regards

Wow, I'd never heard of a reflex sight. I've seen them on military rifles but didn't know what I was looking at. Here's an article I read just now:

https://www.dailyshooting.com/reflex-sight-vs-red-dot-sight/

I am surprised more people don't use them on DG rifles -- especially double rifles -- as they certainly are much less obtrusive.

I'm going to create a new thread so as not to hijack this one.

I don't own one (416), but if the ideal weight for a 375 is 10 pounds (and mine is too light), then I would think 11 pounds would be about right for a 416.

I’ve only ever had a reflex sight on my 416 rem mag. I have the Burris fast fire 2 it is great and reliable and very long battery life
I’m comfortable to hit a medium sized animal at 80-100m and it works great on close up dangerous game
The thing I really enjoy is you don’t have to line up the 2 sights as in open sights. Wherever you put the dot that’s where the bullet hits

Thanks for the feedback.

Graco Corporation offers mercury recoil reducers to be placed in various places on your rifle. I have one mounted in the stock of my CZ550 375H&H and just mounted one in my wife's 270WIN. Her 270 required me to drill a perfectly straight 3/4" hole in her stock. Not easy, but the rifles center of balance is at the magazine and she will benefit from the mercury assist on the recoil. Just another option.

I just saw Budsgunshop.com has both the guide gun and the African for $1150. FWIW - I bought both and decided to use the Guide gun - I restocked it in a Bell and Carlson stock and I added the Alaska arms floor plate to add a round. I wanted the shorter barrel as I will use a suppressor. I wont go lower than $1100, but I will ship it and no sales tax.

Let me know if you are interested
