Hi there, all you AH members. I wanted to start planning a 7 day hunt in Namibia for next season. I want to mainly look for a good Kudu bull and maybe one or two other plains game animals. Would anyone out there have any ideas on a good outfitter I can start with?. Thanks guys and gals, your help would be appreciated.

I hunted with Traut when he was still with Eden some years ago now. 2007. Believe he has a PG area and a big game area in the Caprivi. He is a very popular outfitter. I hunted also with Eland Pro near Grootfontein, he is actually quite close to the Eden property. He hunts numerous smaller fenced properties near his farm. Kudu were very scarce in much of Namibia a few years ago due to the rabies outbreak. Be sure whoever you choose has some kudu to hunt, not all did for a time.
All we saw at Elandpro was mostly dead kudu or zombie kudu, one of which my son put down on the first day. It was just staggering around dying of starvation.
Do you homework and contact all the references to inquire about kudu populations.

Undoubtedly you should look up Kowas Safaris. Jacques is a member here and better host you will not find.

Cheers,
Mark.

Hello Sir,
I hunted 2 times with Khomas Highland safaris with Philip Hennings.
Got some nice kudu's out of these hills.
I am not able to post pictures because I am a pc analfabetic!
Also if you want genuine free range mountain zebra, they are there!
Waidmansheill,
Marc

I know you said Namibia but for a good Kudu I would look at Thorlo contact Tim. Tholo Safaris

Westfalen. Great new lodge and awesome free range hunting.

I hunted with Nick Nolte Safaris in 2014...he runs a fantastic operation. I myself did not get a kudu, but everyone else in the group did. Great bulls too.

I highly suggest schalk pieneer safaris. I went this past year and had an absolute blast. He has great animals and is one of the best hunters I’ve been around. PM if you have any other questions.

There are are several hunting operations in Namibia with truly outstanding reputations. I had the trip of a lifetime with the Strauss family at Kowas in 2019. Every detail of the hunt from the pre-trip communications, numbers and quality of the animals to the food and accommodations and the true professionalism of our PH Jacques was just off the charts..... I hope to hunt with them again soon. Do a filter search on the hunt reports section and review pages of past well satisfied clients of Kowas.

I agree with Mark, I've been to Kowas many times.

You are not going to wrong with anyone listed here, but I'll throw a plug out there for Westfalen Safaris. Free range fair chase all the way. Good people great food and accommodations. I got the eland in my avatar with them. I also wrote up a detailed hunt report which can be found on this site or through Westfalen.

I would also suggest looking at Kowas. I hunted with them in 2011, 2017, and booked a hunt for 2021. I liked that your group were the only people in camp. The quality of game, accommodations, and food are second to none. They are well organized and make you feel at home during your stay. If you search trip reports, you can find my report from 2017. Good luck with your search.

If you want a great hunt in an amazing area, with a smaller outfit than some, get a hold of Peter at Erongo Lodge. He has about 40,000 acres there and I think another 50,000 concession area.
Tell him Andy sent you!

I had a great time with Johan Doman and La Bips Safaris. You may also find him by searching for Aloegrove Hunting Lodge. He and his wife Ivy will treat you right and you’ll have a great time.

Hi there,

Good luck planning your hunt!

We have quite a few plainsgame hunting areas over Namibia, and with Kudu being your priority, our areas will be perfect for you.
Please contact us at info@jamyhunt.com, if you would like information on what we have to offer.

It would be great to plan this hunt with you.

Kind Regards,
Kirsten Lotter

Hi PaulB. Would you be interested in another WJ Jeffery .450/.400 NE 3". It's an extractor model and in superb condition, cased as well. Made in 1908. The rifle is here in Texas.
