I am debating what to do about the stock extension. On the one hand, I could have it removed and replaced with a leather covered pad. On the other, it seems well done and is comfortable to shoulder as it is. I see a number of older guns which have either been cut down and then extended, or simply extended by a taller owner. What are your opinions?

If it fits shoot it.

Wrote to Westley Richards and learned this gun was No. 1 of a matched pair made for Sir John Heathcoat Amory, Baronet in 1888. He also ordered a third shotgun and a double rifle the same date. This thing handles and shoots beautifully and knowing some of its history is fun.

I think it is always worth spending a few $ and asking the maker to provide a gun history . Often they can advise the various owners over the years . I bought an Purdey double rifle some time back . Purdey told me who it was made for ( a very important person ) and subsequent owners . My name is now registered on their ledgers ! Fyi I googled Sir John Amory - an important guy in his time .

You're not the only one with this bug; ain't it great? I have a Rigby and a Thomas Wild from the late 19th century I'm in the process of restoring. There were a lot of 19th century boutique gunmakers across the UK who made very good rifles and shotguns. Tragically, many of them didn't last long due to changing and volatile times. If you intend to shoot your rifle, I recommend you send it to someplace that can look it over, correct whatever may be worn or broken, and determine if it is good to shoot safely.

Here is my pair of Stephen Grant & Son 12g side lock game guns . I bought them in London years ago . Only weigh 6.5 lbs each . Beautiful guns to shoot .

.

Have a few British guns that I shoot regularly. Will see if I can get some photos up in the next few days.

Just had a weird experience. While looking up information about my Charles Hellis shotgun, about which I started this thread, I came across my original post, verbatim, in a forum called Shotgun Forum, posted by someone else claiming to have written my post. Very creepy that posers are apparently scanning Africa Hunting and ripping off our posts for another forum I never heard of before today. Has this happened to anyone else? Okay, done with the rant.

I'd definitely let Shotgun Forum know. It's the beginning of a scam. Step 1 - talk about your gun as owner. Step 2 - Sell the gun. Step 3 - All the hate comes back on you until the poor buyer figures out he wasn't really interacting with you.

Are you selling the Shotgun on that forum ? Or just a post about the gun? Is the other entity a Bot or human.

I'd leave it if I were you. However, it isn't my gun, so do whatever works for you

I am not selling and I never posted anything on that forum. No idea who or what lifted my post. Will advise Shotgun Forum the post is a fraud.

Took @rookhawk’s advice and notified the users of that forum. On review the heading for the thread was also copied from this one and several of the other posts are also copied from our members’ comments on this thread with fake user names attached.

My first passion, I went through a bunch and then settled on this H&H Royal, one of the first self-openers that the firm built. Fits like I was the one that it was made for. My collection is all rifles with the exception of this gun, it will be the last one I part with as well.

Fantastic. Some guns, fitting perfectly are magic. More so a Holland & Holland Royal!

I picked up my latest addition this week.

1880s Boss & Co. 12 Bore with Jones underlever and non rebounding hammers. In it’s original case with accessories.

Anime Slayer APK is honestly one of the best anime apps I’ve ever used. It’s packed with a massive collection of both popular and underrated titles, and everything streams smoothly without interruptions. I appreciate how well it runs even on mid-range Android devices.

Dan who is C. W. Richter? He seems to not be a fan of myself!

Between Blak Rock and Pocahontas, I did not want to say that on the forum. That's a nice Cat!
