Verney Carron .500

I have posted above some images of a nice bull I took recently with the double mentioned in this thread.

The rifle is a Verney Carron .500 ejector, field grade CCH Round-body action, matt-black "cote" finish to 22" barrels, standard express sights, double triggers.
Load used; 475gn C.E.B Safari Raptor hand-loaded with R15 to 2400fps.

Well look at what the joey drug in from the NT! Looks like a pretty exceptional butt Paul, how was your season?

G'day Phil.

Thanks for your comments on my butt :rolleyes::rolleyes:, nicest thing anyone has ever said to me :whistle:.

Please see me recent comments in my Buffalo hunting in Arnhemland thread in the hunting in Australia section.

He better damn well be, he's going to owe me a beer or two by then!

G'day Fellas.

BB, I will do my best to try attend the Dallas "shin-dig".
Look forward to seeing you and all others there, and also looking forward to all the free drinks Phil will be buying me !

Spike, I don't know much of the tech aspects of the V.C rifles but yes you are correct in recognizing this particular frame as light, small and trim.
I particularly like the way it carries and balances for shooting.

In the process of balancing V.C places a small lead weight threaded on two screws and fixed in to the hollow of the butt-stock.
It is quite an easy job of removing, which I did, reducing the over-all weight of the gun down to 9lb 10, which for me is a perfect balance of carry/shoot.

P.T.

Ken is great and so are the guys from Verney/Carron! I think you'll be very happy. Mine has the palm swell and I was very iffy on that....small hands......but it seems no problem and is easy to hang onto.

Sounds like you pretty much have it covered, but I might suggest an articulated front trigger. Can save a bit of knuckle whacking if your hands get sweaty.

Best of luck with yours!

JTEX, everything you say Ken and the fellas at V.C is right on the money.
They all made the process so easy and fun, no grief or problems what-so-ever.

I am VERY satisfied with the end result, this is a very well built, accurate and comfortable to shoot rifle.

Happy hunting,

Paul.

Glad it worked out so well for ya'.

NEVER, But NEVER think that you can go thru life with just 1 doublerifle..

Jerome, do you think my last post in rough camping must maybe shift as an article?

Good afternoon,

I'm trying to get in contact with Mr Butch Searcy. I have the opportunity to buy one of his rifles chambered in 577 nitro Express however the seller does not have any of the paperwork with the information about what ammunition or bullet weight was used to regulate it. I know he is not making firearms anymore but I wanted to reach out after seeing one of your post about him.

Hi - the only (best) method of sending you the .375/06IMP data is with photographing my book notes. My camera died so the only way I can do it is with my phone. To do that, I would need your e-mail address, as this
new Android phone is too complicated to upload to my desk computer, which would be easier and to down-grade, reduce the file sizes.
Best wishes
Daryl
