I was cleaning under my shooting bench and found some ammo that over the years had roles off and gotten underneath. Most of it probably could be cleaned up and fired, it would just be a waste of time as I have no idea what is in them.

Is there a way to destroy unwanted ammo?

Thanks.

Or call your local police department.

You can always just pull the bullets with a pair of pliers and dump the powder in your flower garden and then put some motor oil into the case to destroy the primer.

Decap it and reuse the primer, bullet and case. Dump the powder in the dirt somewhere unless you know someone who can tell you what it is.

If you're a reloader then it always pays to have either a kinetic hammer type tool for pulling projectiles from loaded ammo or use one of the collet type tools. Always better to pull ammo when uncertain of provenance, load or safety.

Jamie, did you ever intentionally load ammo that you weren't willing to shoot? I tend to use loads that work over and over again. If you recognize the bullet, wipe everything off with 0000 steel wool, mark it in some manner and use it for practice. If you don't recognize the bullet, pull it, dump the powder and reuse the remaining components. When using my inertia hammer I put an old foam ear plug in first. When the bullet comes out it is cushioned by the plug. The bullet is undamaged and reusable.

I'll take the Vortex scope cover you have listed in the Pay it Forward thread.
