Yes. The Springfield rifle was the one which killed this leopard. It was loaded with a 220 grain Remington firm soft nose bullet called a core locked or something similar. It worked very well on the leopard. I hope that some one here might identify the other rifle . It was very interesting looking.

BenKK , you are welcome . Thank you so much for enjoying. Yes . Blunt nose bullets are good for dangerous animals. Unfortunately , the ones used by DB had pointed black tips .

Mr. Rahman, yet another excellent story, thank you!
The "Gui Shap" was a water monitor lizard, does that sound correct? If so I would understand why you would not have wanted to be wading with them.

Trogon , thank you so much .
I just did an internet search. That is exactly what they are. Filthy creatures , they are . I respect every animal which l have ever had to hunt. However , l have no respect for crocodiles or water monitors. Crocodiles are very malicious in killing. They will not bite you to death. They will drown you , and then take your corpse into a hole and eat your corpse. Fortunately , water monitors are very easily killed by a AAA cartridge .

Black tip ammo sounds like armor piercing. Definitely not good for hunting. Great story. Another one tomorrow?

I would enjoy reading stories about any of the smaller wildlife, if you ever need a break from writing about the big game. Venomous snakes and pythons would be pretty neat, I think.

    Dear mr Rahman,
Thank you again for fascinating story!

Decades later, one of popular american authors, writers and safari hunter - once wrote something like this:

"there is no bigger compliment in hunting, then when you professional hunter invites you to follow the track of wounded dangerous animal with tracker and him, to finish the job".

However, those things are valid even without saying with ethical hunters.

I can easily give an acct of the snakes and water monitors. Unfortunately , l do not have many photograph of those . It must be remembered that these creatures were viewed as vermin during our time and not trophy animals. Therefore , coming across them and killing them was part of our daily routine , the same way somebody might kill a cockroach today . If the lack of photographs is not a problem , then it would be my honor to relate such an account to you all.

That is very correct. I suppose my poor client , DB might have gotten a little perplexed at the thought of going into the foliage on foot to pursue his wounded leopard

I have happy memories of an Aboriginal friend diving under the surface in a freshwater creek to seek and do hand-to-hand battle with a wounded water goanna, a delicacy! My friend was successful, with not much of his own blood spilled, and there was lots of happy laughter from the rest of us who weren’t brave enough to go in!

Your friend is an extraordinarily brave man. Our Garo trackers were fearless and would kill these creatures with their ram daos. I chose the relatively cowardly but safer approach : a shot-gun loaded with AAA cartridge.
