You don't need anything. Other than making sure there is some one to pick you up .
 
Having a letter of invitation provides any customs/immigration officer proof of your destination and intention of being a tourist.
They may ask, they may not.
Have the Outfitter email it to you and carry it along.

If you are a US citizen you are allowed to enter RSA without a VISA as long as your intended stay is 90 days or less.
 
I have traveled without guns twice.

You don´t need anything, you are just another tourist.

I was able to shoot a new gun...with a silencer/supressor...WAY more fun than shooting a gun that I had shot 100s of time previously. Different strokes for different folks.

I'm just the opposite did one hunt with a PHs firearm while ok I would much rather use my own.
