Don't think so!

You don't need anything. Other than making sure there is some one to pick you up .

Having a letter of invitation provides any customs/immigration officer proof of your destination and intention of being a tourist.
They may ask, they may not.
Have the Outfitter email it to you and carry it along.

If you are a US citizen you are allowed to enter RSA without a VISA as long as your intended stay is 90 days or less.

I have traveled without guns twice.

You don´t need anything, you are just another tourist.

It’s less hassle maybe but less fun too!
Have a good trip

I was able to shoot a new gun...with a silencer/supressor...WAY more fun than shooting a gun that I had shot 100s of time previously. Different strokes for different folks.

I'm just the opposite did one hunt with a PHs firearm while ok I would much rather use my own.

Noah,
I might be interested in the 470 Woodleigh Softs if the price is right for the entire lot. Are you planning on going to the Tulsa Gunshow in November? If so, perhaps we could meet up.
