ok before I post this and people jump all over me this was a rare special circumstance. He was born in transit on the trailer. When he got here mom took off and if I didn't do something he wouldn't make it through the night sooooo...... Everyone meet little Timmy the axis deer.

We do everything possible to avoid any contact with our animals which are most assuredly wild. I can't in good conscience just let him die. My wife and kids would try and turn him into a pet which would not be good so the game warden who is a friend of mine took him home to bottle feed. As soon as he is big enough to fend for himself he'll be released to be all the axis deer he can be.

Luckily Erik doesn't have my wife's number, or I'd have an Axis Deer in my house by this weekend!

Ya big softy Erik!

Believe me Royal I meant to get Nancy's # when we all went to dinner the other day. Won't be a mistake I make again. You skated out on this one though.:LOL::LOL:

Only with animals Phil but yes I am. I know better than to bring him home though. My wife and kids would ruin him. He'd be a big dog before it's all over then when he hit his "teenage years" in about 9 months or so he'd try to kill everything around the house. Two months a year axis bucks are not something to be fooled with. Our delivery man has 13 holes scarred over in his body to prove it.

Good luck with it!

If he'd been born on the ranch I'd have let nature take its course but it wasnt his fault he was born in the trailer between the Texas coast and here.

They are the cutest little damned things that ever lived tho.

I wish the little guy all the best!

I have phone # and e-mail.... I'll roll over on Royal in return for a Sandhill crane hunt this winter. Just sayin' (what are internet friends for...)

Lol. I know where he lives. Next time I may just show up bearing gifts. Royal would come home and there'd be a red stag in his living room.:LOL::LOL:

Man if you are that generous I'll give you MY home address and even show you where I keep the beer....

I am but.... they have to come back home in about 6-8 months.

That he does!

If Erik had just shown up at the house while I was at work I would have been screwed! Nancy would have had little Timmy in my bed before I even got home!

I swore I'd never have dogs in the bed....

Oh. I was thinking more like this...

Yip you would have but 1) it's not a dog so your ok on that and 2) how can you refuse a face like that.

Good call

Cool thing about axis that many people do not know is that they can be both in velvet and hard horn anytime through the year. They typically drop their horn around their birth days. Soooo... you have those who are hard horned in the summer months during the main axis rut of June July And August and those who are in velvet during that time or slick headed which rut in the winter months.
