The IPA beer guy

Greetings fellow Beer Enthusiasts,

Lately I’ve been called a “Fudd”.
It might have been due to my fondness for fixed power scopes but, I don’t recall exactly why anymore that I am a “Fudd”.
And now, I’m being called a “snob” because my favorite style of beer is India Pale Ale.
That’s really scraping the bottom of the tub.:ROFLMAO:

Seriously though, calling someone a snob because they prefer one type of beverage over some other is like calling someone a snob because they wear a solid color shirt instead of a plaid shirt, or prefer to fish in lakes instead of rivers, and so-forth.

Yours truly does generally prefer the IPA style of beers.
However, I don’t hold any delusions of superiority over those who prefer other styles.
My closest friend in Alaska prefers porter style beer and his 2nd favorite is raspberry wheat beer.
I don’t care for those two styles at all, not even a little bit, but we have been good pals over 40 something odd years now.

Speaking of beer styles, there are other ones I enjoy from time to time.
For one example, my otherwise favorite IPA’s do not go very well with extra spicy food but lagers and pilsners are perfect for that.
Those two are also just right to be enjoyed during hot weather, IMO.
With that, I applaud the few African brewery’s products that I have tried.
All have been excellent for enjoyment at the end of long hikes on hot, sunny days.

During our cold winters here in Alaska, I sometimes enjoy stout beers as well.
My wife doesn’t drink a lot of beer.
However, when in the tropics, she enjoys lagers and pilsners right along with everyone else present in those climes.
Closer to home, she will on occasion order a wee pint of Hefeweizen with a slice of lemon in it.
Not my thing but she enjoys it.

Far be it from my to look down my nose at her choice in beverages.
That would be an exercise in foolishness for sure.

Well anyway, Cheers to all,
Mr. & Mrs. Velo Fuddsnob.

Hopefully you took my joke as a joke. I think you did?

The light hearted barb was towards the micro brew guys that treat some dude down the street with a kettle and 3 years experience like their version of Château Pétrus. And take it far too serious.

We don’t do pub crawls. We do “crank ‘n crawls”. It’s all part of a healthy lifestyle where we ride our bikes downtown & swill craft beer (i.e. carbo load) so we’ll have enough energy to cycle back home. We tell ourselves we’re doing it for the exercise. ;)

As far as the rest of the world is concerned, all American beers taste like piss.

The trick, Mr. Odonata, is to dip the baby's dummy ('pacifier') in the beer before inserting it into the baby.

Nice to see you and Tommy Lee Jones out and getting some exercise!

I also don’t like bud, miller, coors, and all the other mainline beers. I have one beer in the evening most of the time and I want something that tastes great. I am all in on hazy IPA ‘S. As far as alcohol content goes less than 7 is my go to selection.
I enjoy a local brewery visit and I usually bring home a growler for later .

My favorite beer drinking buddy loves to jab at me for liking IPA's. Over the weekend I sent him a picture of my Ghost in the Machine captioned, "look at this hazy mofo right here". He said my wife's Pilsner in the background was more his style.

Seriously that's funny shit there.

In all seriousness though, being from Michigan we take our beer quite seriously, I appreciate your humor. I honestly can't stomach regular beers like Budweiser, Miller, Coors anymore (and believe me I used to drink a lot of them). There are too many other good choices that have better taste character and go way better with food. My favorite--Bells Brewery-Two Hearted Ale. There is something to the micro-brew hipster, its a generational thing and kinda awesome if you ask me. That said, I'll drink as many Windhoek Lagers as there are in camp during a safari.
agree
lifes too short to drink crap beer

Greetings Altitude sickness,

Yes, I did take it as a joke.
Refer back to the multiple laughing emojis I festooned your thread with, including but not limited to your posts and my own.
I thought yours and many others were funny.
Likewise even the ones that did not tickle my ribs weren’t offensive to me at all.

After just now re-reading my post from yesterday yes, I can now see that I did come across as if my feathers were ruffled, they were not.
I’ll strive to do better next time.
I was attempting (obviously without success) to respond with humor.
Looks like I missed the mark on that.

Again, I enjoyed yours and other’s comments on this topic.
My favorite was the reference to India Pale Ale tasting like a mouth full of yard work, or something to that affect.
But, I chose my words poorly.

Indeed, I do enjoy humor, including at my own expense, perhaps especially at my own expense.
With that, I’m evidently so simple that I don’t know what “Chateau Petrus” is.
Perhaps I’ll look it up.:ROFLMAO:

Best Regards,
Velo Doggo.

And seriously, here’s to You.

After reading this thread today, I stopped at the local alcoholic store and procured what turns out to be very tasty....:D Cheers:

I like a good IPA. However I find now that if I have more than just a couple over the course of an afternoon, I’ll get an IPA headache. Not a hangover the next day, but a headache that same
afternoon /evening, after having had them. I’ve looked into it and apparently IPA headache is a real thing. And sometimes we just don’t learn; I’ve just finished an offering from a craft brewery here in Ontario that goes by the name “Juicy Ass”. It’s a strong beer 6.5%, I think, and I like it.

Too funny.

Always been fond of a true lager or pilsner. Never have much cared for the stale oats after taste of most ales - dark, heavy, or pale. From the States, I prefer Shiner Bock, Live Oak, Sam Adams and Jack's Abby House. Fortunately, Europe and Asia offer a host of great lagers and pilsners like Peroni, Urquell, Weihenstephaner, Singha, Sapporo, or Tsingtao and a host of others.
RL,

try Fireman’s 4 Ale, which is made in Blanco, which is SW of Austin. I don’t drink anymore, but it always was nice, with a very clean taste. My guests seem to enjoy it.

Yeah, I really don’t care for IPA beer. WAY too hoppy for me. I’d rather sport a man bun and shoot a Creedmoor before drinking an IPA. I’ll take a stout porter any day.

See you are from Denmark - see quite a few Danes where I stalk in Scotland - great hunters.
The Harkilia stuff works well in Africa - I have a bit for use here in UK.
I am again looking for 600 Nitro dies preferably RCBS 1 inch. The set I purchased previously are 1 1/2 inch and do not fit my die. Another member has graciously taken them off my hands. If anyone happens to have a set of 600 Nitro Dies that will fit my Rockchucker Supreme RCBS press, please shoot me a message and thanks in advance for any assistance you may have to offer!
I have not posted any items for sale on this forum and will not every put anything for sale. My account was hacked and I've worked with the admin to get things shut down.
