I will start with a Marlin 46A that I saw today. Rather pristine little lever action .22, except for ONE THING. It was scope mounted....and the scope mounts were on both the receiver and the barrel....and it was a TAKEDOWN model. Which means you can't do take down function without removing the scope from the mounts! Poor Bubba didn't notice the take down feature....
Could the front mount be moved? Yes, but the barrel will show that it was tapped. Sorry I have no pictures. I hope most of you will post yours as a picture is worth 1000 words. I yield the floor to your submissions for the "Bubba Award."

A very interesting topic. You all know that my favorite rifle is an 1896 Swedish Mauser in 6.5 X 55 and that I've bought a lot of them over the years. Especially "sporterized" ones generally sold in the $350 - $400 range. While the vast majority of them were everything that I expected, one of them was definitely reworked by "Hack & Slash Gunworks Ltd." I've mentioned this particular firearm several times in previous posts. The original Military stock had been cut down, the barrel was shortened with a hacksaw, and the crown was cut with a dull two fluted drill bit, one of which I think was actually broken.

Now for the good part, I used this rifle to build my "Grandkids Gun." With a new short thumbhole stock, Timney trigger and safety, bent bolt, shortened and recrowned barrel and a muzzle break. Recoil was calculated at 9.5 Lbs. Accuracy is now well under an inch. My youngest grandson took his first deer with it at the age of nine. This rifle will be kept as is and passed on to future generations.

She was definitely a "BUBBA RIFLE" to start off but not anymore!!

I don't have any pictures but I had a guy bring in a model 94 Winchester with a piece of half inch angle welded to the left side of the receiver for a scope mount. Judging from the looks of the weld it was done with a "Buzz Box" and a 6013 rod. True story.

Back in 1996 my late wife's grandfather died changing a tire on the way into town to his 95th birthday party from the family homestead near Swiftcurrent, SK. After the funeral I was helping clean up the mess at his house when a "pistol" was discovered in the couch (aka "Chesterfield" in Canada). This thing was entirely homemade. The barrel was a piece of pipe. My parents had driven up from Montana to visit and take our toddler daughter home for a few weeks. Father-in-law showed the monstrosity to Dad and asked his opinion. Handguns are supposed to be registered and this one obviously wasn't. Dad held it for a second, looked it over, then threw it as far as he could out into the adjacent alfalfa field. "There. Problem solved."

I can't verify but I was told that the ATF has a very highly engraved AH Fox side x sides that now has a pistol grip with barrels hacksawed even with the forearm. Not sure if my eyes could handle seeing that one.

A factory Bubba production piece is a lessor evil IMHO.

T.C. Hall Sporting Goods (now defunct) in Pleasant Grove, Dallas Tx had an engraved/gold inlaid Beretta O/U shotgun brought in, with black Krylon paint all over the metal work. Said they didn't want anyone to know it was actually a fine gun and therefore steal it.....

I walked in to my uncles office one day after he had returned from out of town, and he proudly pulled out a sawed off 16ga fox sxs and I looked at it and’ said to bad some on sawed off the barrels, that thing would be worth some money “ the look on his face was classic! And he said he and a friend had sawed it off thinking it would make a good
Gun for his Chief Forman in the back to keep handy in case they had a robbery.

Always look on the bright side--a guy gave me a sawed off Stevens .22 single shot rifle/turned pistol, which spat gas and powder with each highly inaccurate shot. Then the city of Dallas had a $50 "Saturday Night Special" buy back program. Even Bubbas can be cashed in, worthless as heck.

Which (it only just now occurs to me) might mean THEY had stolen it and didn't want it identified or talked about....a more likely scenario.

Now folks, I'm not a Bubba magnet--I just seem to know folks who ARE.
When you know such folks, don't be in a hurry to "fix up" their gun for them--some are flat unsafe. A fellow asked me to make a replacement fore end for an old clunker Damascus double shotgun that had to be wired tight between shots to keep the breech closed tighter. You would be doing them a favor to temporarily disable it, even though he admitted, he only shot it with "low brass shells."

Best win-win? Get them to donate it to Cracker Barrel in exchange for a meal.

This is a Marlin model 36 barrel bubba decided to up grade front sight. Guess he was a little off at first but got it right the second time. Forearm band had a cut nail drove through it and peened over instead of getting the right screw

Looks nice, other than the bloody rail, but wait, so I tells them looks like a Mannlicher Schonauer TD & if 1910 it should be in 9.5x57/.375 Rimless 2 1/4in, so I get these.

I said amazing love to see how the rotor was modified (I suspected it had a cheap mag inserted sure enough)

Looks like a AR15 magazine inserted ?

I think maybe a South African “Gunsmith” ?

I’ve seen bases stick welded on receivers, they were almost on the top, hose clamps used as barrel bands and muzzle breaks screwed on crooked, the last done by a gunsmith ( he’s very special)

I have seen the hose clamps. But not 100 % sure if it counts as a bubba or nessary
Guy had a 45 cal muzzle loader. The wedge and barrel bands were gone.
He said he found it in the trash.
So he put the hose clamps to see if it would shoot.
It did and he said so well he didn’t need to try and hunt up the right stuff. Pre net
