I just bought one on GunBroker.

Yes, it's true: my real love is lever actions, and this is a bolt gun, so it's kinda weird for me. But it looked really pretty, and the serial number places it pre-1950, and I like older guns. Oh, and this one is a .30-06. I do not currently own a bolt action in that caliber.

Good experiences?
Bad experiences?
African experiences?
Advice?
Photos?

I bought an older Husqvarna in 30-06. Nice wood with a smooth action. I had it re-chambered and opened the bolt face, it’s now a 308 Norma Mag. I brought it south with me this year and took it elk hunting in New Mexico, which lasted 20 minutes. It shoots 180gr Oryx ammo, lights out to 300 yards.

It’s also been my go to deer rifle at home in Ontario.

Did you just say, in front of God and everybody, that you did not own a bolt action 30-06?

And you expect us to take anything you say seriously? Blasphemy.

May the Good Lord forgive anyone who doesn't own at least one .30/06 and especially anyone that would have rechambered a .30/06...

PM me for Theology advise, if you have, in any way, desecrated the Lord's cartridge.

A man can’t have too many 30/06 Springfields!

I've got two Husky chainsaws, but not a rifle, nor motorcycle.

Intervention needed....

I own a .30-06... just not a bolt action. 30-06.

Congrats on your new ’06. My brother owned a Husqvarna 7mm RemMag back in the late ‘80s. I don’t remember any details about it but it was a good looking rifle and shot well.

Me too.

It's won two World Wars, by golly!

My family has several bolt actions, a few autoloaders, and a pump.

It seems like Husqvarna makes, or has made, many high quality products.

When a company has been in business for 336 years, they usually have had sufficient time to "figure it out."

The USA has only been "in business" for 249 years.

We still have a few "growing pains" to work through.

Those Husky 640 actions are FNs. Husky never made a large ring Mauser action. They are very good actions. The triggers can be better.

My Husky 640 is now. 9.3x62 but it did not go easy.

I've had a couple of 640's on the large ring Mauser action; I've been impressed with the action of mine, pre 1950 9.3x57 and 8x57. Currently having bolt bent to allow scope use.\

@baxterb, curious minds want to know--what kind of "issues" did you have converting your 640 to 9.3x62 ?

@Tundra Tiger, you'll enjoy it. Those are nice rifles in a irreplaceable caliber.

I traded into a Husky 640 in 30-06 years ago... and then let a friend talk me into trading it to him a few years later... I have regretted it ever since..

it was a truly great rifle.. smooth as silk.. reliable as the day is long.. and mine was particularly accurate with just plain old federal blue box 150gr soft points..

If you decide you dont like it, put it up on AH at a reasonable price, and you'll get youre money back out of it in less than an hour...

Midwest, that last line is about the most ringing endorsement I've ever heard, lol.

Oh dear…..I’m the same…..I do have a husqvarna sewing machine though…does that count
Gumpy

I've got a Singer, would you like to trade???

I have a 6.5x55, 30-06, and a 9.3x62. Each was under $600 and shoots like a $1600 rifle. I'm taking the Swede to Limpopo in April for steenbuck, duiker, and warthog.

Well, the gist being that the proper geometry for the mag box and thus bottom of the receiver and rails for a 9.3 are not the same as an 06. And while, yes, many do get away with a barrel swap for a conversion, mine was not to be. It fed horribly. A very experienced builder took me under his wing for a long weekend and showed me how to get it all sorted out. That meant widening the max box, milling the underside of the reveiver to match, reshaping the rails and feed ramp, fixing the tension of the extractor, properly radiusing the chamber mouth, and polishing it all. I learned a many years of information in those few short days.

Mine was under 500. It seemed like a decent price.

Even better! I put a Leupold VX3i on the 6.5 and I wouldn't trade it for a new model. Hopefully you get the same results. (The 9.3 shot so well with irons I didn't bother with a scope)

Hello,

I saw your post selling left hand rifles. Do you have any additional pics of the .416 Rem mag?

Thank you.

Hello, I saw your post selling left hand rifles. Do you have any other left hand rifles you may let go of? Also can you send a few additional pics of Borden rifle?

Thank you.
