Hunting reports

First and foremost, we had an epic time! Two friends and I found out about Game 4 Africa on this website last March and we decided to take advantage of one of the offers they were advertising at the time and booked a 7 day hunt. We are all experienced hunters, but had never hunted outside of the United States, so we really didn’t know what to expect. We had booked with outfitters in the past that turned out to be serious letdowns.

Upon arrival in Port Elizebeth, one of our PH’s was waiting for us. The transfer from the airport back to the lodge was a breeze and upon arrival at the lodge, dinner was already waiting for us.

We truly found out what we were in for on the first morning. We saw many large, mature animals, but our PH Wikus, told us to hold out for larger animals. The amount and quality of game that we saw rivaled that of watching a National Geographic film! We harvested two really nice Kudu and a Nayala the first morning.

The remainder of our trip went the same way, passing on smaller animals and only taking large trophies. We also culled a few sick animals. Initially we had planned to take five animals each, but due to the staggering amount of opportunities and quality of the game, we all ended up taking additional animals. The terrain varied from mountains, flat lands and everything in between....with us being from Florida, this in itself was truly an awe inspiring experience.

We were able to haverst the following animals:

Kudu x 3
Nayala x 3
Impala x 4
Zebra x 2
Blue Wildebeest x 1
Blesbuck x 3
Gemsbuck x 1
Common Springbuck x2
Black Springbuck x 1 (potential gold metal)
Fallow deer x 2

All of these animals were harvested by the end of the 6th day of our trip. We decided to spend the final day of our stay at one of the local preserves before we flew back home.

The Coetzee family has a first class operation and really strive to make sure everyone has a great time. We came as guests, but left as friends. Everything from the cleanliness of the facilities & vehicles, the swimming pool, the food, room service and overall experience surpassed anything that we expected. Our shirts were cleanly pressed daily! We have hunted with outfitters who have really nice accommodations and not see a mature animal to harvest, or have stayed in the equivalent of a shed and seen quality game, but Game 4 Africa has it figured out on both ends. We have already rebooked for 2019.

The trackers and skinners were very courteous and skillful in what they were doing. One of the guys in our group had a Kudu run close to 100 yards into some of the thickest bush you can imagine and they were able to find and recover the animal. The preparation of our trophies was also very good and they arranged for a local taxidermist to meet with us at the lodge.

In conclusion, we had an EPIC time and Game 4 Africa exceeded all of our expectations. The only issue we are having is where we are going to hang all of our trophies when they are shipped back to the US :)

Looks like another great hunt from @Game 4 Africa Safaris ! I've never hunted this early in the year, which I guess would be essentially late summer, but from the animal harvest it doesn't look like it impacted things. Great results!

I forgot to include the Fallow!

I just showed this to my wife and she said “Why don’t you hunt one of those, they are beautiful!”...... Yes Mam, the order has been understood....

Thanks for helping out a fellow hunter, or is it fallow hunter.... :)

I think that's the nicest Eastern Cape fallow I've seen!

One of the bigger ones we have taken...
There was a group of about 12 stags,I didn't know which one to shoot as they were all big. Real quality fallow deer hunting in one of our areas...

That is great stuff. Congrats on a wonderful hunt. I love the Fallow but I like those Blesbok too.

Hallo Marius- do you have possibilities for stags in September during the roar? Where are your hunting areas in Romania?

Love your rifle! I'm needing a heavier rifle for Africa. Sold my .375 Dakota Safari several trips ago. Would you have any interest in a trade of some sort involving the custom 338/06 I have listed here on the site ( I have some room on my asking price. I also have a large quantity of the reloading components and new Redding dies as well as a box of A-Square Dead Tough ammo.
