Scope for .416 Ruger?

Just picked up a Ruger Hawkeye African in 416 Ruger, thinking about putting a lightweight low powered scope on it with those Alaska Arms quick detach scope rings. Any suggestions on a scope?

They are lightweight (you carry the rifle 99% of the time)
They have great glass and a lifetime warranty
The CDS works well
The firedot makes shots into the shade on dark animals a breeze (you don't lose the shot opportunity searching for the black reticle)

If you were hunting out west (US) or in more open ground for plains game (Namibia) then the VX5, 2-10x42 with CDS & Firedot would be your ticket. On 2X you could still hunt dangerous game, but if you put both scopes into Alaska Arms QD rings, you can switch scopes to the 1-6x24 for DG and expect them to hold zero.

Questions:

Why low power scope?

Why not a scope that allows for the full potential use for the 416?

Ask yourself how long do you plan to use or own the 416? Then decide if you should get a low power 1-5, 1-6, 2-8, power scope? If your planning on using and owning your 416 for years then why not get a scope that progresses with you as you, your eyes, age. Why not go with a: 2-12, 2-14, 3 +, 4+, they allow for close shots on DG, PG, and North American larger big game.

If you are only planning short term owning the 416 then may be a 2 + scope would be advisable.

(Rhetorical) What's your budget? There are a lot of quality high grade, non big name scopes and a few quality high grade name brand scopes on the market. Sooner or later it comes down to the quality of warranty service.

(Rhetorical) Are you a First or Second Focal Plane type?

JMO and 2 cents....shop around and compare <$1000.00 to >$3000.00 scopes then decide on which scope will work best for your hunting purposes within your budget.
