Phil I am looking for an exportable bull elephant to US in 2028 between 40-50 pounds any ideas please at all in $30k
Some of us, not only me, have been saying for a few years that if you want to hunt Lord Derby Eland you’d better do it as soon as you can. Cameroon’s President has been in power more than 40 years and he’s around 93-94 years old. The concern is that when he dies nobody knows if hunting will continue in Cameroon. And as of today, it’s the only place you can hunt them. You want to hunt them in January or February when they’re rutting. You can hunt them through March and into early April but it’s brutally hot (120+ Fahrenheit) and the black necks they get during the rut are diminished. January & February are the ‘Sweet Spot’.I am in the very early stages of considering/planning. I spoke with two site sponsors that do LDE hunts just to get some basic ideas of their areas and procedures for their hunts in terms of travel arrangements, bringing rifles, best time of year, current anti-poaching efforts and asked for some references to speak with regarding their hunts.
I also spoke with a very well respected AH member who has hunted LDE with a different outfitter for his advice and his experience.
The general conclusion I’ve come up with so far is if I want to hunt LDE it probably should be sooner rather than later. So, I am starting that process now.
I may or may not be able to make the hunt come together while opportunity is still available. One thing for sure is it won’t happen on its own, so I am going to try and make it happen within the next 4 years.
@Green Chile and @Andrew62, feel free to shoot me a DM and we can discuss further. I’d be especially interested your advise and experience @Andrew62 related to your unsuccessful attempt.
I probably only have one shot at this (at most) and I’d like to maximize my chances for success. Now back to our regularly scheduled programming about how cool the SCI conventions is.

CAR May open next year but the total number of LDE shot will probably be less than a dozen. And the cost alone will Eliminate 99.9% of All hunters.
If you’re going to go, now is the time to get it booked. And Cameroon is where you’ll go.
Who are you going with and have you hunted them before? Always interested to hear about the cat hunts.I went hunting a double rifle, handled, Chapius, Hyem & Krieghoff.
But… I ended up booking a Leopard Hunt.
I’ve had a great experience so far. I like the location and set up.
Reached several milestones:
1. Booked Ele, Buff, Tiny 10, PG, small cats hunt for Bots, Moz, and SA for Oct 2026.
2. Got good quote and dates for Spain for Ibex, Chamois, Mouflon, Roe Deer, Iberian Red Deer, Wild Boar, and possibly a Fallow… Then extend my stay to take in a F1 Race and finish with 3 days of fishing on Canary Islands. Talked my Girlfriend into going too…
3. Got a good quote and dates for BC Moose, Whitetail, and Lynx plus a wolf tag. 12 Days in Nov 2027.
4. Got a good quote and dates for Scotland for December this year for 5 days hunting Red Stag and Roe Deer. Then I’ll stay another 5 days to see the sites and pay my respects. My grandfather was named William Wallace, so it’s time I made the pilgrimage.
5. Got a good quote and dates for a 2027 Caribou hunt. Still need to sort that out.
6. Meeting an outfitter early tomorrow for breakfast to talk about Yukon Moose Hunt.
7. Got fitted for Kenetrek (Mountain Extreme 400) boots and will likely order those tomorrow.
8. Talked to Ty at MOA Rifles and spec’d out a custom Left Hand 7MM REM MAG, but likely go with a 7 PRC Extreme MTNR with 22” barrel and a pretty small, but effective can. Although Ty is trying to talk me into a 20” barrel…
9. Getting a quote from Gracy for my Africa flights with Emirates through Dubai to get to Joberg in the morning. Then catch my next flight to Moz.
10. Stopped at Heym to discuss time frame and options on a LH Double in 500 NE. 2 Years timeframe…
11. Spent some time with my NZ outfitter. He was eager to show me how many of my videos made it in his promo. They actually came out pretty good considering they were filmed on an iPhone through a spotting scope.
12. Got a quote and dates from a Saskatchewan outfitter for ducks and geese for 2027. For a group of 10 people.
13. Tried on some Arctic Parkas. Expensive!
14. Talked to SWIFT about some 450 bullets. May pick up a box of each A-Frame Heavy and Break-Away Solids. Prices are going up, again!
Tomorrow will be locking in contracts and paying out more deposits. Then dinner with some of AH’s finest!
P.T. Barnum pricing?
I would love to see it in person. I have all the Sitka stuff for whitetail hunting (Incinerator and Fanatic) This parka seems to be a step above for sure. Best thing I have for the cold right now is Cabelas Stand Hunter coveralls that I bought slightly used for $180I live within 45 minutes of the store In Dixon. Would definitely wait for the Super Sale if I were to get one.
There was also one step down from that Parka that seemed comfortable and built for hunting. Price was about $799… Still full retail.
I have a lot of their hunting clothes
I also use and like their clothing but don't like paying their retail pricing. It does help to be a member of their club so you can get points towards future purchases.I live within 45 minutes of the store In Dixon. Would definitely wait for the Super Sale if I were to get one.

You mentioned Super Sale...are those limited to sizes in stock or you can order any size? I thought it was limited to what was on hand.
It was great to meet you at the gathering RareBreed! Thank you for all of your efforts on that! Much appreciated!Just awesome!!!!! A convention of a lifetime!!! I salute you sir!!!!
Correct, last November they had all the sizes available on their sale for the premium parkas. If you are in the club you will get a notifcation a few days before the sale is public. I thought the Arktuk was $400 of so off. We had no issues getting anything in all the colors and sizes we needed. Most of those sales happen at a certain time and are at the store. I’m not certain what you can or may buy online. I believe there is a discount for outfitters. I could be mistaken…
“Biggest sale of the year” before Black Friday late October/November…
Sent you a DM.Who are you going with and have you hunted them before? Always interested to hear about the cat hunts.
