Some western ROAN pictures from West and central Africa.
Probably one of the most beautiful and sought after trophy. They are many in this part of the continent. Not easy to hunt, they smell, see and hear very well. It is a big and strong animal, a minimum of a 300 caliber must be used. It is hunted by spot ans stalk and tracking. A good trophy size is about 26''.
If you have some to share, you are welcome.
Enjoy
Best
Christophe

Nice pics, Christophe, thanks for sharing !

Christophe. Beautiful roan photos. You are very lucky! R.

Awesome pictures. Beautiful animal

They certainly are pretty, I definitely want to hunt one.

The Roan never drew my hunting attention.
Odd looking beasts like the Vaal Rhebok in my estimation.

Then I hunted Vaalies and they are near the top of the book now.
After that unexpected change of mind, it may happen yet again with the Roan.

Thanks for the pictures Christophe. Great mass on those trophies.

Amazing what you are saying. Now for me Roan is really something special, in wild open area, right. Long ago, I used to shoot some for meat to feed the workers in camp !!! I was wrong....
It is very high in my estimation now, and to let kill one is quite hard.... Of course I don't want the poachers to finish them all, so I hunt them and I enjoy it so much.

Majestic....describes them well.

oh, it must be a great hunt.:P Elmer Fudd:
Thank you all for the pictures.
To see that,is much better than our tv program .

Where was it?

That was in Nigeria when it was still rich in game... The species and hunting terrain are almost the same as what you have in Benin... But unfortunately, it's not the same anymore! Corruption is mingling in the nation and poachers are almost impossible to control...

Well, I am afraid, poaching is all over the continent now !!!
There is still some pocket where we can have fun but for how long ???
and for me the anti hunters are responsible of the disaster....

Do you know Faysal El Kalil?

Best

Hello,

Am I reading your post correctly to say that the Tsavo rifle will be coming out with a composite stock later this year? I ask because I had been looking very hard for a Tsavo, but if there is going to be a composite stock model I will wait for that.

Thank you for your time,

Andrew

Saw your post. Nice. Denver too. Genesee area (just off 70) if ever up this way. Alternatively, do you have a membership at GGC? Whatever, you'll have a wonderful time in Africa. Enjoy.
