Rigby Highland Stalker - preferred scope

@pc3

HS uses Mauser 98 commercial bases (sometimes referred to as FN). Part nos for the Leupold bases are

50055 Gloss
50056 Matte

Sadly discontinued now ;-(

with a bit of hunting you might find some.

will be cheaper than Hexalocks

As an aside - did you happen to buy your .30-06 used from Mansfield H &F?
It also uses the superb Talley mounts that were created for it.

Mine is currently wearing a leupold vx3 but I plan on getting something else on it. I think it deserves a good quality euro optic but I have 25mm hexalock’s and finding something decent with an inch tube is tricky these days.

I had the same issue with LOP. Started off with a S&B that I couldn’t get far enough back for a natural position. Switched to a Z3 or 6 that I had lying around and it was also a no go. Finally the Z8i and it worked very well

Jack,

I’m with @Mats Bergholm

Meopta are definitely worth a look. The discontinued Czech made MeoPro 1” are excellent, on par with Z3 to my eyes.

Ok now Talley's I do like and love the look of them....I reckon thats the way I may go

Thankyou.

I do think the Klassic SB is a long scope as well ?? I will research the mounting lengths the Z8i is a lot more $$ and this SB model Klassic has the more traditional "mil" dial up but in .05" for 4.5 mil dial up, enough for the 30/06 and say woodleighs.

Have exact same scope & mounts on my .275 (posted earlier in this thread). Awesome set up!

Super dark wood on your Rigby in the first two pictures - is it the light or did you oil or stain it ? Looks great.

.

That’s how it came. It is darker wood but I think the lighting is exaggerating it some. Looks a little lighter in person.

Pretty sure I was cheating off your rifle when I set it up a few years ago!

Good morning. I see that you had a Sauer 202 for sale for $3,000. Did you sell it at that price?
I have one for sale as well. I listed it (on here ) at $3,000 as well. Is the price high, low or right where it should be?

Thanks. Alex. [redacted] in case you want to call me to discuss further. I appreciate your time help and support.

Dave, I could use both of them if still available. I just picked up a new .22 mag and a .22 pump that they would be perfect on.
